PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands – After an extensive search covering the length and breathe of the Turks & Caicos Islands, training workshops are to commence this week for the selected few, where one young lady will emerge the new Face of the Turks & Caicos, TCI Top Model 2013.

Over the last two weeks, organizers of the 2013 TCI Top Model Contest & Fashion Extravaganza hosted contestants, models and fashion designers searches in both the nation’s capital, Grand Turk and Providenciales. The searches unearth an impressive array of beautiful young ladies and equally attractive males, along with a jewelry design team excitedly waiting to showcase to the world what they have on offer.

“In just a matter of weeks, the fashion landscape will change owing to our fourth installment – Royele Couture: LUXE. Of the persons that applied online or we met at the searches, we have short listed them from 53 to 26 potential candidates to be groomed for the events, with 10 young ladies eventually moving on to compete in the 2013 TCI Top Model Contest,” said Courtney Robinson, Director of Production.

“All the models were desirous for this opportunity of a lifetime, a chance to walk in the most heavily anticipated event that kick-starts show season and to meet with fashion modeling agencies from New York, the door that truly opens them to the fashion world. We saw not only persons who were taller, sleeker and fitter, but also knowledgeable about this creative industry. Importantly, they were keen to get started,” said Robinson.

The Search saw the application of jewelry design team Pyro, which are looking to become one of the leading accessory providers in the Turks and Caicos. The Pyro team comes out of the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme and TCI Top Model Organizers are always excited to work with the youth in our community.

“These young persons wowed us with their craftsmanship, creativity, style and presentation,” said Michelle Swann, Head of Fashion and Personal Development. “We were thoroughly impressed and will be working diligently with them arm-in-arm to assist with their design elements, promotions and marketing collateral through the TCI Top Model Contest events.”

In the run up to the event, all talent will attend workshops on ‘the fashion industry,’ ‘personality & self-esteem,’ ‘presentation skills,’ ‘networking & interviewing skills,’ ‘branding & being a spokesperson,’ ‘fitness & healthy eating,’ ‘life in the media’ and ‘being an ambassador.’ This, along with runway training and doing photo-shoots.

The workshops are fundamentally important, as it will give these young persons the tools they will need for this industry and meeting new people who can, and will make a difference in their lives. This training will go a long way whether they stay in fashion or wherever life takes them.

It is the hope of the TCI Top Model Contest Organising Committee that those in the public rally behind this initiative, and persons in the business community help support this most rewarding and ambitious endeavour; as in doing so, everyone becomes apart of helping deserving individuals realize their fashion and creative dreams.

The 2013 TCI Top Model Contest & Fashion Extravaganza will take place at The Williams Auditorium in Provoidenciales on Saturday, May 4th, 2013.
