PROVIDENCIALES,
Turks & Caicos Islands, Monday, August 6th, 2012 – Turks &
Caicos Islands ‘It Girl’ to the
fashion world - Washanda Registre –
returns home following a successful trip to New York City. With her Wilhelmina Models portfolio folder in hand, Washanda excitedly
awaits a quick return to the Big Apple this autumn!
Wilhelmina
Models requested Washanda, the 2012 TCI Top Model Contest winner - to the
fashion capital of America, to meet with their various boards and divisions;
that, along with having scheduled appointments with potential clients, casting
directors and test photo shoots to promote her career as a Wilhelmina model. At
Wilhelmina, Washanda will be promoted on their ‘new faces’, ‘women’s’ and
‘runway’ divisions – giving her the widest possible opportunity to spread her
wings and soar!
“Being
in New York was super exciting. I am ever so grateful for this once in a
lifetime opportunity to travel there, meet with Wilhelmina Models’ representatives,
stay at the models’ apartment, go on castings, meet working models and do a
photoshoot with a top photographer. Everything went well and everyone was so
nice and welcoming. I am so happy I can burst,” said a joyful Washanda.
“Just
being there - the lights, the colours, the sounds, the smells of New York City;
the people rushing about – nothing no one says to you can really prepare you
for it – you just have get there. It all moves so fast! And, of course the
food, the entertainment and shopping. I can surely get used to this lifestyle,”
said the bubbly 5’10” Turks & Caicos Islands beauty, adding: “Modeling is
truly something that I know I can do and excel in. I want this more than
anything else.”
While
she lived Soho, Washanda also had a mini tour of the city in between
appointments: Times Square, Ground Zero, South Street Sea Port, The Empire
State Building/Heralds Square, Battery Park, Union Square, Harlem and a visit
to Jamaica, Queens - not to mention seeing Zarkana by Cirque du Soliel at Radio
City Music Hall.
She also did a
photo shoot with Maxim Repin, a
noted Russian fashion photographer who has shot for L'Officiel, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, GQ, InStyle, Jalouse and many other
stellar fashion magazines and top modeling agencies. The resulting photographs
were amazing and Washanda surely will have some great images to assist in
launching her international modeling career.

While
in the Turks & Caicos for a few short weeks, Wilhelmina is making ready for
Washanda’s return this Fall. Then, she will be in the Big Apple for six to
eight weeks to meet with more clients, casting directors, and do photo-shoots
to further develop, promote and push her - as Wilhelmina Models knows that
Washanda Registre is a star in the making who will put herself and by in large
Turks & Caicos Islands on the fashion map!
Accompanying
the TCI Top Model to New York were Charmaine Clarke, her chaperone and Courtney
Robinson, TCI Top Model’s Executive Producer.
Since winning the 2012 TCI Top Model Contest on May 12, the 16-year-old recent Clement Howell High School graduate has been busying herself. She has since appeared on the cover and in an editorial spread for the 2012 Times of the Islands Summer edition, did a photo shoot for Destination: Turks & Caicos 2013, Discover – Turks & Caicos Island 2013 magazine and a photo-shoot for Saint George Fashion House. What is more, as the Digicel TCI Brand Ambassador Washand has also done four advertising campaigns for the number-one telecoms company, most recently their ‘Roam in the USA ads,” which features her in New York
