Bahamian artist / author transforms pain into purpose
Apr 6, 2017 - 10:48:49 PM
NASSAU, Bahamas – We all experience pain at some point in our lives. Did you know that fear stops more people from living their dreams than anything else? Fortunately, fear can be overcome by using spiritual principles, such as choosing to focus on positive intentions and gratitude.
Tina Klonaris-Robinson believes fear can be overcome through creativity. She says that painting has taught her about surmounting obstacles and leading a life of divine purpose. “My canvases begin as empty black spaces. I love using black, rather than white canvases because they remind me that in our darkest times if there is emptiness, there is the potential to fill our lives with light, color, beauty, and magnificence. The contrast between darkness and light reminds me that both are necessary and that they have an intimate relationship. Darkness gives depth to my paintings as it does to my life!”
Tina wrote
Fly, My Love, Fly: Inspiration for Living Your Highest Potential (Good Energy Works, 2017, available on amazon.com in hardcover and paperback) in hope to help others awaken their inner power to heal themselves and find creative solutions to challenges. In this beautiful new book, Tina brings together numerous colourful paintings, matching each with a profound motivational message and an affirmation to help you live your highest potential. Her powerful artwork evokes the natural imagery of her island home, celebrating the starry night sky filled with vibrant energy and angels, and the clear, turquoise-blue ocean around Nassau, teeming with sea life like turtles and starfish. People often say that their hearts open and their spirits soar when they view these healing images.
In her introduction, Tina describes how when she was in her twenties she lacked self-confidence. She felt destined to live with regrets for not pursuing a career she really loved. Although she had a successful business designing jewelry and Christmas ornaments she felt unfulfilled professionally—like there was something else she was supposed to do. She had a dream of helping people, but did not know exactly how to go about doing that. She felt stuck and so blocked that it was as if she couldn’t breathe without anxiety.
At twenty-nine, she experienced a crushing loss. During the birth of her daughter there were complications and her daughter perished. She herself was fortunate to survive, but her world came crashing down from intense grief. After that, anger, deep sadness, fear, and every other negative emotion you could imagine became her constant companions. She had to learn to navigate the emotional lows and find her calm in the midst of this storm of emotion. She did more than survive, she entirely transformed her life by adhering to the 26 life-affirming principles in her book.
Tina offers these five tips on living an inspired and purposeful life:
1. Be mindful of your thoughts, words, and actions.
Pay attention to what you are thinking, saying, or doing and if it is not positive you immediately shift it so it reflects a more positive intention.
2. Use spoken affirmations to signal your intentions to your soul and God. Affirmations are positive statements or declarations of things we want to be true or make real in our lives. They help us create mental pictures that inspire, energize, or motivate us. They help us set clear goals and stay focused and on course when we repeat them.
3. Make a commitment to compassionate living. The decision to love bigger, give more, and find beauty in unexpected places has the power to entirely alter our destiny and how we experience life.
4. Find gratitude in every experience. Make gratitude the centerpiece of all you do, all you have, and all you are. As a practice, say thank you as often as you can. The energy of gratitude will heal you and take you to the heights of ecstasy.
5. Believe in your gifts, talents, and purpose. Focus on what you want to achieve. The more you think about it, the more you will bring it into your reality. You have the ability to create anything you want with your gifts. There is power in believing.
