Nassau, Bahamas - With a desire to bring awareness to women and families that have
lost loved ones to cancer, and to support those that are still in the fight,
young Bahamian stylist, Shannon Collie will be hosting a charity
fashion show with the Cancer Society of The Bahamas called "Fashion Beats Cancer" on November 14th, 2015 at
Mario's Bowling and Entertainment Palace at 7pm.
Collie, a recent graduate of the
JSSA Fashion Styling course said he's lost two family members to cancer in the past two years. "This disease has opened the eyes of my
family and friends," he said.
"Cancer awareness has been my platform for the past two years in anything that I commit myself to do," said the young stylist who intends for the event to be an annual one.
"This event means more than just putting myself in the spotlight, but rather into a position to speak up for patients and survivors that may have lost hope and faith in themselves. The aim of the event is to show women and men that they can still feel confident and be beautiful, in every way possible, after being affected by the disease."
Collie has lined up 15 models who have offered to take part in the event as cancer supporters, along with 5 beautiful cancer survivors including Erin Brown and Rika Cargill.
The event is being sponsored by the Tree House, Debonaire Boutique, Original Patties, Coca-Cola, Blanca's Tailoring, and Marvel Graphics.
"Randy Alcorn once said
God prospers me not to raise my standard of
living, but to raise my standard of giving and I believe that it is my
duty to give back with my talent that has been given to me," said Collie.
