Nassau, Bahamas - In
recognition of World Interact Week The Rotary Club of Nassau partnered with its
youth clubs to clean Yamacraw Beach on Saturday 9th November 2013.
80
volunteers from the The Interact Club of CV Bethel Senior High School, The
Interact Club of Kingsway Academy, The Early Act Club of Stephen Dillet and The
Rotaract Club of South East Nassau Centennial and its sponsoring
organization, the Rotary Club of Nassau, participated in the cleanup from the west
to the south of Yamacraw.
The
project that was executed at Yamacraw Beach between 7:00am and 10:30am resulted
in 20 jumbo bags of debris was gathered and properly disposed of.
Rotary
club of Nassau President Lapaige Gardiner hailed this project a success and said
this is one example of the positive work our nation's youth are involved in.
More
importantly President Gardiner believes it important that residents should be
more conscious of their impact on the environment, which not only key to
sustenance of our country but also to our tourism-dependent economy. And,
conducting cleanup activities like these can at least remediate the issue to
some extent until the culture of our people is one of more environmental consideration.
