The admission of fault by the Attorney General that his and his office’s oversight will unceremoniously end at midnight is noted. The AG joins the former FNM Minister of Health in accepting full responsibility for a major blunder on a national level. The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) is concerned about the level of competence of the Competent Authority, the Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly, the AG and the various members of the Cabinet who ought to know better. This follows the various inconsistencies, contradiction, nonsensical and confusing commentaries since the declaration of a state of emergency. It is simply embarrassing that a sitting Government of The Bahamas could have this much indiscretions on a national level. This comes less than 48 hours before our country is to be opened to international commercial travel while Bahamians and residents are being asked to refrain from travel. We have been plagued with multiple crises under the current FNM administration; including a labor crisis, energy crisis, climate crisis, health crisis and economic crisis. While some of these crises have been self inflicted, others have been due to circumstances beyond our control. However, the leadership crisis that is confronting us today dwarfs the other crises as we seek to navigate our nation to stability and prosperity. The real tragedy we have faced is that successive administrations under the PLP and FNM have always found ways to bring embarrassment to our nation and people. Our comfort is that there is light at the end of the tunnel and competent governance will be instituted under a DNA government. The Bahamian people deserve this. Omar B.
