U.W.P Women's Arm: Together we can protect our women and girls
Jan 25, 2021 - 2:16:50 PM
The United Workers Party National Women’s Arm would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family and friends of our island's latest victim of gender based violence. We are deeply saddened by this heinous act and our organization remains deeply concerned that violence against our women continues.
Violence against women is a global phenomenon and the recorded numbers continue to increase. Therefore, we encourage all organisations to remain steadfast in the fight to raise awareness for those who are not able to and to continue to work with the Government to eliminate gender based violence in all its forms. We all have the same goal, which is to create an environment in which violence against our women is shunned. Although the issue of gender based violence is being increasingly addressed and advocated against, the spotlight needs to be constantly placed on the issue at hand, whilst offering hope and support to survivors. We should not await tragedy to strike to do so.
Many perpetrators believe that they can commit such atrocious acts towards women and not be faced with the consequences of their actions. This is a violation of our rights as women and we look forward to law enforcement officials bringing the individual or individuals responsible for such a heart-wrenching act to justice. Let us take collective responsibility to protect our Women and Girls by raising awareness in our family and social circles that women’s bodies must be respected. Together We
Can End Violence Against Women!
The End
