SkyBahamas Airlines
is proud to be named as the official carriers and sponsors of this years
57th
National Family Island Regatta
in George Town, Exuma. Our
Organization
is taking this time to honor the memories of two men, who have in some
significant
ways, shaped the company into the fine product it is today. SkyBahamas
Remembers ...
James "Fat Hog" Adderley and
Capt. Dwayne "D-Bowe"
Bowe
. These two men served originally with The Sky Unlimited
Organization,
and eventually joined or contributed to the SkyBahamas Team upon its
establishment in 2006. Their level of dedication and "spirit"
of superior service lives on in our company ... and continues to make
each Regatta flight a special experience for our customers.

Mr. James Hasting Adderley "Fat Hog" 1952-2006

The
loss of a loved
one is never easy for persons to accept, and on February 19, 2006 when
James "Fat Hog" Adderley, a former customer service representative
of Sky Unlimited and SkyBa-hamas passed away this was certainly the
case.
Described as a
fun-loving man who was passionate about his family and his occupation,
"Fat Hog" as he was affectionately called, was a dedicated
employee for over ten years and is still missed by former colleagues
and passengers alike, says former coworker Michael Lockhart, a retired
Director of Maintenance for Sky Unlimited and also SkyBa ha mas
Airlines.
"Adderley was a good man," he says. "He was hard working
with good values. He always tried to do things to the best of his
ability,
and was always looking to help someone out. I can't tell you how many
people would come to our counter and would only want to work with him.
They didn't want anyone else to serve them and that was all because
of his personality and his dedication to helping others." He sacrificed
much to make the SkyBaha-mas dream a reality.
According to
Adderley's
daughter Lashandawn Adderley, Fat Hogwastrulya people's person.
"James Adderley
was indeed the number one dad, "she says. "We shared beautiful
moments together my entire life. I still stop sometimes just to think
of our relationship, the wonderful moments that we shared and the
kindness
that he portrayed to others, but also to myself."
Explaining that
her dad was the kind of person anyone would love to have around,
Lashandawn
says that everyone loved her father.
"He was very
cheerful, always happy, a very hard worker and to be honest, a people's
person," she says. "That's what people loved about him."
Lashandawn says that
she will never forget the precious moments she spent with her father
at the airport.

"I remember
the times he would take me to work with him at Sky Unlimited" she
said." I would sit behind the front desk and watch as passengers
came to check in. They would just walk to the counter and say 'Baby
hog you alright?' I would reply by saying "yes sir or yes maam."
They would then say "Hog I need to get on this flight man."
Sometimes the flight might be closed, but he would try his best to
assist
them to get on the flight ... and if you didn't have enough money he
would assist them by putting his own. In response, they would say "Hog
I will pay you back" but he would just respond by saying "that's
alright man."
"I also remember
the times when I could tell that he was a bit stressed, but to the
average
person they would never know as he went beyond measure when helping
people. My dad always told me 'Shandawn the sky is the limit, and never
allow any one to bring you down.' He believed in me when no one else
did. I could never forget the amount of blessings that came our way
just because of his attitude and character. He always believed in family
time. There was never a Saturday that passed when we didn't go out.
He always took my cousin and I to the movies and to the ice cream shop.
We always did father and daughter activities together, but now only
beautiful memories linger in my heart of those special occasions we
spent together."
Adding that although
her dad was not the most perfect person the world, Adderley says that
he did a good job of touching the lives of many person's while on earth.
"I will surely
miss him and he will forever linger in the life of my mother,
Estranetha,
myself and our friends that love him."

Capt. Dwayne Parnell Bowe "D-Bowe" 1963-2008

Capt. Dwayne
"D-Bowe" Bowe passing away on May 12, 2008 was a heartfelt
loss to the Sky-Bahamas Family. Upon his demise. Captain Bowe had
collectively
served both The Sky Unlimited and SkyBa ha mas companies for over 10
years. Described by both friends and family as a man who loved his
family
first and flying second, Capt. Bowe was equally loved by many including
current SkyBahamas Chief Pilot Antoine Williamson.
"D-Bowe was a great man, a great friend,
and a great pilot," says Williamson. "I had-known this great
man for many years, and the memories I have of him will last me a
lifetime.
He was the kind of man who loved his family and his job, and that love
drove him to always go above and beyond the call of duty. The day he
died was a sad day for his family, his friends, and this company."
According to D-Bowe's
wife, Gaye Antoine-Bowe, flying was always his passion. She says that
when Dwayne first became familiar with the computer he would spend hours
during his days off just searching the internet looking at planes and
playing aviation games.
"He really
saw flying as a challenge; especially those days when the weather was
bad," she says. "He would come home bragging about how he
was so good at flying through the bad weather. It was interesting how
Dwayne was so attentive to his regular passengers, especially those
who did not like to fly in bad weather. He would jokingly and
mischievously
talk about how these passengers were so afraid to fly. He would then
say, 'Only if they know they didn't have anything to worry about because
I had to come back home to my family!'... and that was how he honestly felt."

"Despite his
complaints, Dwayne refused to miss a day at work, and he believed in
being punctual to work," she said. "Dwayne's love for flying
seemed to overpower all the challenging aspects of his job. Although
he was never one to say much, we knew Dwayne made a favorable and
lasting
impression on the passengers who flew Sky Unlimited and Sky Bahamas.
This became more obvious after his death when many persons referred
to him as "their pilot". Many passengers also expressed how
comfortable they felt knowing that he was one of the pilots on their
flight. They liked his commanding presence matched with his quiet and
friendly personality."
Captain Williamson
added that no one could ever doubt the devotion that Dwayne had to his
job, and that an employee like him was almost impossible to replace.
"He loved
to fly," he says. "That was his passion. He was always going
the extra mile to help his company move forward. It's rare to find
someone
that devoted to his job, but D-Bowe truly was devoted to flying and
to his passengers. We still miss him today."
