Nassau, The Bahamas - The signing of a lease agreement for 40 acres of Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BIAC) land in Norman's Castle, Abaco for a church farming project took place at BAIC Headquarters, Thursday, July 22, 2021. The Church Commercial Farming Group will break ground in September to begin the project which is in keeping with a challenge from Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources to help in cutting the country’s one billion dollar food import bill each year. BAIC Chairman, Bishop Gregory Collie said the Corporation was delighted to lease 40 acres of land to the church group to help rejuvenate the economy of Abaco following the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian in September of 2019. Also attending the signing were: Treasurer of The Church Commercial Farming Group, Rev. Clyde Bain; Office Manager, Rev. Dr. Patrick Paul; Deputy Chairman, BAIC, Kim Carey-Gibson; BAIC Director, Jameel Lightbourn and BAIC General Manager, Rocky Nesbitt. (BIS Photos/Kristaan Ingraham)
