NEMA Staged Disaster Preparedness Exhibition

Nassau, The Bahamas – The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, staged Disaster Preparedness Exhibition displaying information, equipment and tools used to deal with any event; the country might be faced with.

The exhibition, held at NEMA on Gladstone Road on Saturday, May 29, 2021, was one of the main activities observing Disaster Preparedness Month under the theme: “We Are All NEMA-Stronger Than Ever.”

Involved in the exhibition were NEMA’s Emergency Support Function groupings and relevant agency partners.

The Ministry of Disaster Preparedness Management and Reconstruction, under which NEMA falls, designated May as Disaster Preparedness Month to give to give focused attention to preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery efforts on the eve of the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

The hurricane season officially runs June 1 and ends November 30. And this year, Meteorological experts are predicting a 60 percent chance of an above-normal number of named storms. A likelihood of 13 to 20 names storms with sustained winds of at least 39mph.
