FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - Minister of State for Finance and for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Kwasi Thompson gives a “thumbs up” signal as he received his inoculation against COVID-19 on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Susan J. Wallace Center in Grand Bahama. Minister Thompson was the first to receive the AstraZeneca shot in the vaccine rollout on Grand Bahama today. “I’m excited to be the first person to take the vaccine on Grand Bahama because it really shows us that there is light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to COVID-19,” he said. “This is a very significant moment for us because the more people receive this vaccine as we continue this fight against this virus, the sooner we will be able to fully reopen our country and boost our economy." Among other officials receiving their first shot of the vaccination were Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Iram Lewis; Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Harcourt Brown; Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama, Peter Turnquest; Sharon Williams, Hospital Administrator for the Grand Bahama Health Services and Dr. Frank Bartlett, Chairman of the COVID-19 Task Force in Grand Bahama.
