The DNA recognizes that Sir Clifford was a servant of the people, as he played a pivotal role in the country’s labour sector, as well as with modernizing and the transformation of the nation’s public transportation system, first as a taxi cab driver and later as president of the Bahamas Taxi Cab Union. On this sad occasion, Branville McCartney, Bamboo Town M.P. and DNA Leader, made these remarks: “Our nation is forever blessed to have birthed a true nationalist like Sir Clifford Darling. “We, as leaders, could learn so much from his service and sacrifice, and should honor him by trying to mirror his great legacy. Bahamians everywhere are eternally grateful to reap the fruits of his labor; I know that I'm one of them,” McCartney said. “Our hearts are saddened by his passing and we mourn with his widow, Lady Darling and his entire family. Sir Clifford has certainly made his mark on us, who knew him dearly and the next generation will read about him in history books for years to come,” he said. “On behalf of my family and the Democratic National Alliance, I pray sincerely that our nation birth more leaders like Sir Clifford Darling with the same valor, patriotic spirit and devotion. May his soul rest soundly with the Father.”

great leader and nation builder, Sir Clifford Darling, the fourth Governor
General of The Bahamas.
