Miss Earth Bahamas and Miss International Bahamas Crowned

Nassau Bahamas - After months of preparation, screening and interviewing of thirteen (13) potential beauty ambassadors, the Miss Bahamas Beauty Organization through its panel of prestigious judges have elected two of the nation’s finest young ladies as its official beauty ambassadors for the 2013-2014 year during a crowning ceremony held at the Wyndham Nassau Resorts, one of its official sponsor.
The evening’s event was well attended with an overflowing crowd and scores of Bahamian Beauty Queens, including entertainment by the reigning Miss Culture Bahamas Jacqueline Frazier. Delegates then took to the stage in swimsuit, national costume and evening gown. They were also featured in video presentation showcasing their personal and global platforms. Miss Kerel Pinder the outgoing Miss Earth Bahamas gave her farewell walk encouraging her successor to hold tenaciously to her dreams of being one of the best Miss Bahamas ever and not to get sidetrack by dream killers. The queens’ personal assigned advisor and pageant coach Mr. Oilin Coakley, gave an in-depth look at the training the ladies will undergo in preparing for their international pageants. Mr. Coakley is an internationally accomplished pageant coach, producer choreographer and model franchise holder, having been in the field for over twenty years.
Vandia Sands is the new Miss Earth Bahamas 2013

At the conclusion of the pageantry display, Vandia Sands a favorite of many Bahamians to wear the prestigious title of Miss Bahamas was crowned the new Miss Earth Bahamas. The 25 year old statues model beauty will represent the Bahamas at the 2013 Miss Earth Pageant later this year being held in the Philippines. In an interview with media personnel, the stunning beauty said “I am elated; this is my second shot at serving my people, the Bahamian people as “the people’s Queen”. I am reminded of the words in a song, “second time around, it’s better than the first time”. To my people I say, here is my hand together we can”.
Moments later, the 2011 Miss Grand Bahama Keriann Staurt, a pageant and model veteran had her childhood dreams fulfilled by being crowned Miss International Bahamas 2013. Before the jubilant crowd of well wishers, family members and sponsors the bubbly 19 year old Ms. Pratt beamed in amazement. “I always knew that the day would come again when I would serve my country as an Ambassador of goodwill, I am so honored” stated the teary eye beauty. Her humanitarian spirit goes well with her title as the aim of the Miss International Organization is to crown ambassadors of goodwill and world peace. She leaves to compete in the 2013 Miss International Pageant being held in Tokyo Japan later this year.
Runners up in the selection process included Shaquelle Demeritte, Marissa Pratt and Kristen Frazer any of whom should either of the queens not be able to fulfill her duties can replace the queen. Ms. Gaynell Rolle President of the Miss Bahamas Beauty Organization, who gave a stunning account of the organization’s eleven (11) years history which included record setting accomplishments for the Bahamas such as the hosting of two international pageants said “this year candidates were all eager to serve, it reminded me of the days of old when the ladies entered with service in mind which is encouraging. The committee is looking forward to great things from both ladies; we would not say much at this time the results will show”. She thanked the sponsors of the organization, parents and coaches of the ladies.
