(AUDIO) Remembering the legendary Micheal Lucien Curry‏ of "Cooling Waters"

Freeport, Grand Bahama, the Bahamas -  The legendary Micheal Lucien Curry will forever be remembered as a man who loved his family, his church and his God.

These were some of the remembrance messages conveyed during the memorial celebration for the legendary Micheal Lucien Curry at The New Mt Olivet Baptist Church this past Tuesday evening:

"We are not here because Curry died, we are here this evening because he lived." These were the words from members of the Cooling Waters, the group that Curry was a part of for over 30 years.

The Cooling Waters sang songs that were written by Curry himself as well as those most loved by there many fans for so many years. Persons also heard from friends of 'Bro Curry' as well as ministers of the gospel and Senator Hon David Thompson who brought remarks on behalf of The Bahamas government.

Curry's widow, Phillipa also spoke at the memorial. She thanked persons for their support and said that she and her family were lost for words. She has lost a friend, a prayer partner, and most of all her lover.


The following is a 2006  interview  with Cooling Waters from the studios of MackeyMedia, where Curry is featured. In this enlightening 26 minute streaming audio interview, they discuss the Cooling Waters self described 42 year old mission; " Touching lives through Jesus Christ". Highlighted in this informal discussion is their dramatic experience performing at Fox Hill Prison in Nassau, the changes in gospel music during the years, the former members who are deceased and the confidence in the band's future with younger member Lloyd Grant's abilities to "carry on the legacy of The Cooling Waters".
