Grand Bahama’s Junkanoo Carnival Team Says ‘Heartfelt Thanks’

Freeport, Bahamas - A Heartfelt Thanks Press
Conference was held at the Grand Bahama Junkanoo Carnival Headquarters on
Monday, April 20, 2015 to convey appreciation to everyone who gave so much of
themselves to make the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival kickoff at Taino Beach on the
weekend a wonderful success.

thanked all who helped make the moment in time memorable: especially Prime
Minister the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie who conceptualized Junkanoo Carnival; Minister
of Tourism the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe; Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture the
Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson; Minister for Grand Bahama the Hon. Dr. Michael
Darville; Minister of Labour and National Insurance the Hon. Shane Gibson; and
most of all, visitors to the island and Grand Bahamians.
Bahamas Junkanoo
Carnival at Taino Beach drew an estimated 10,000 people on Friday, April 17,
and 20,000 on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
No criminal incidents
were reported to the police on the two nights of Junkanoo Carnival Kickoff on
Grand Bahama, according to Chief Superintendent of Police Clarence Reckley; and
he commended Grand Bahamians and visitors for being on their best behaviour.
