THIS IS A NASSAU PHONE FORECAST FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT TUESDAY 17TH NOVEMBER 2020 ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 6AM

WARNINGS: BEACHGOERS AND MARINERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION DUE TO THE STRONG RISK OF DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND ROUGH SURF CONDITIONS MAINLY AT NORTH AND EAST COAST BEACHES. DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION ALONG COASTAL ROADS DUE TO SEA SPRAY, OVERTOPPING WAVES AND COASTAL FLOODING THAT CAN REDUCE VISIBILITY AND CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY ALONG THE GLASS WINDOW BRIDGE IN ELEUTHERA AND THE FISHING HOLE ROAD IN GRAND BAHAMA.

GENERAL SITUATION: A COLD FRONT WILL ENTER THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS LATER TODAY WITH A ROBUST HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM RAPIDLY BUILDING IN ITS WAKE THAT WILL SUPPORT VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

WEATHER: VARIABLE CLOUDINESS, WARM AND BREEZY TO WINDY WITH A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THE CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY IN THE VICINITY OF THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY…VERY WINDY AND A BIT CHILLY WITH THE CHANCE OF A STRAY SHOWER TONIGHT.

ADVISORY: A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY COMES INTO EFFECT THIS AFTERNOON AND BOATERS IN. THE EXTREME NORTHWEST BAHAMAS SHOULD REMAIN IN OR NEAR PORT

WINDS: NORTHEASTERLY AT 15 KNOTS THIS MORNING BUT INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 KNOTS BY EVENING OVER OPEN WATERS.
