FLIFF on Location Blue Ribbon Selection Panel to decide on Thursday

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND - Members of the recently appointed five-member Blue Ribbon Selection Panel are scheduled to review submissions by Filmmakers of the Bahamas on Thursday October 14, 2011.

Ten films produced by local filmmakers have been submitted in the short and full length feature categories.  Upon selection, they will be screened by Bahamas Film, Plays and Review Board for approval for viewing by the public, at the inaugural Ft Lauderdale Film Festival on Location in Grand Bahama.  The film festival takes place October 26 – 30 and the selected films will be featured on Saturday, October 28 at the brand new state of the art Canal House at Pelican Bay Hotel.

The Blue Ribbon Panel members are:  Award-winning international cinematographer, Paul Mockler; attorney Willie A. M. Moss; chartered accountant Peter Turnquest; philanthropist, Lauri Tuchel; and stage actor, Rouen Robinson.

FLIFF On-Location: Grand Bahama Island will feature:

    • Underwater Cinematography Workshop by award-winning cinematographer Paul Mockler
    • Film Workshop by Bahamian Film Producer, Karim Mortimer
    • Complimentary outdoor screenings
    • International Student Film Competition and
    • The inaugural ‘Grand Bahama Youth Film Competition’ Winner’s Screening - a competition for young filmmakers (14 to 18 years old).

Visitors and residents alike will be encouraged to come out and enjoy the films and events on offer during the four-day festival. More information about screenings, special events, parties and seminars will be forthcoming as the festival dates approach. FLIFF On-Location: Grand Bahama Island.
