Freeport, Grand Bahama - More than 100 girls took part in the first Every Girl Can Bahamas Conference in Grand Bahama. The inspirational event was designed especially for girls to encourage them to stand tall, reach high and dream big. The Honourable Senator Tanisha Tynes kicked-ff the event with an encouraging prayer and welcome as the girls got excited for the three feature presenters that would follow. Yasmin Anderson-Smith - civility expert, author and founder of Every Girl Can Worldwide based in the United States - presented the guidelines for being a "Yes I Can Girl". Allie MacPhail, an author and family therapist out of Nassau, gave an uplifting and light-hearted talk on the "Art of a Selfie" which triggered the girls into a 'selfie-craze' of taking self portraits throughout the day. Grand Bahama's own Kerel Pinder had the conference room rocking as she used music and dancing to inspire the girls in attendance reminding them that their life has a purpose. At the close of the event, Miss Grand Bahama Lashanda Wildgoose shared her words of encouragement and answered questions from the keen group of girls. The event was organized by Lynne Fraino, founder of Miss Katey's and coordinator of Every Girl Can Bahamas.
"The Every Girl Can Bahamas Conference exceeded my expectations. There were well over 100 girls in attendance and they were so enthused and very eager to interact with the presenters," said Yasmin Anderson-Smith, Founder of Every Girl Can Worldwide. "I congratulate Lynne on a very successful conference as my heart is so filled with joy to see the results of her hard work." The girls conference was sponsored by the Miss Katey's Girls Foundation, Elnet Empowerment Foundation and Healing Hearts Foundation. Event partners included Barefoot Marketing, Bahama Islands Info, MMD Concepts, McVities, Turtleback Publishing, Miss Katey's and Every Girl Can Worldwide.
"Girls in Grand Bahama can look forward to more Every Girl Can events designed especially for them with the purpose of empowering, elevating, inspiring, enriching and encouraging," said Lynne Fraino, event organizer. Every Girl Can ™ is a fun, creative, interactive program to help girls prepare to be everything they can be. Every girl who participates will learn how to sharpen their personal image, improve self–esteem, andself confidence and communicate the right messages. Every girl will also learn important skills in personal grooming, etiquette and civility and how to project a positive image.
