Freeport,
Grand Bahama -
First runner-up of the Miss Grand Bahama 2013 pageant,
Lashanda Wildgoose has just been crowned Miss Grand Bahama. Previously
Shequera King wore the crown, but after competing in the Miss Heritage
World Beauty Pageant in Africa in December, Shequera claimed that inaugural
title,
Miss Heritage World.
Lashanda Wildgoose was crowned Miss Grand Bahama in a ceremony held on
Monday December 30, 2013 at the Bell Channel Inn, who sponsored the
event, and Lashanda is busy preparing for the
Miss Coffee International Beauty Pageant in
Manizales, Colombia in January.
Manizales is located in
the Colombian Andes, and this year's pageant is the 58th version of its traditional Manizales Festivities
(Feria de Manizales) which celebrates the regions cultural heritage. Miss
Grand Bahama leaves on January 3rd and the pageant runs until January
12th.
Lashanda is a poised, educated, talented, outgoing and purpose-driven young woman. 24 years old and a cum laude graduate of Missouri Valley College, Lashanda has always been known for her big smile and engaging, loving character. Lashanda has an interest in helping her community, and as a graduate and class salutatorian of St. George’s High she participated in several community service focused clubs. Today, Miss Wildgoose is an educator, and her platform is “Sexual Abuse Awareness”, an issue near and dear to her heart as it affects too many young people in the Bahamas.
