Body Language’ Success for the Lois Seiler Academy of Dance

Freeport, Bahamas - The Lois Seiler Academy of Dance shone brightly last weekend with dancers showing off their sensational skills as audience members filled the theatre with applause for the celebration another successful production.  The Lois Seiler Academy of Dance celebrated 44 years of excellence and dance. Lois Seiler flawlessly managed to keep all of her dances fresh and original, with an enjoyable, fast paced, show that sold out both performances.

The production featured over 100 dancers performing ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and modern ballet. Rico Thompson and Scarlett Wilson returned to host the show again by popular demand and the duo even featured a quirky dance of their own. The dancers sparkled in beautiful costumes and dazzled the audience with superb footwork making Body Language a night to remember. 

Body Language audience member, Jill Rolle, recited, “It is interesting to watch Lois Seiler Academy of Dance’s bi-annual productions. The fact that her dancers spend a year dedicated to learning and perfecting technique means you can see a noticeable leap upwards in the standard of the students each time they perform."

Rolle went further to say, “It is truly remarkable watching the girls move up in the levels of dances, from the tiny tots in Swan Lake, Valse Brilliante for the Intermediate level, to the advanced ballet class in Rhapsody in Blue number and all those in between.  It gives you an exciting, tingling sensation as the show progresses. Lois Seiler must be commended for her creativity, talent, dedication, work ethic and ability to still entertain audiences after 44 years of serving the community.“

One proud parent commented, “It was wonderful to see so many male dancers taking part in such strong and athletic roles. The male dancers that performed were amazing and it takes a lot of ambition and courage to take part, and I commend them for that. I think that more young men should be encouraged to take part in such a creative outlet and strong physical activity.  I know professional football teams make their players take ballet training as a discipline to strengthen them and increase their stamina.”

Lois Seiler would like to thank all of the dancers, parents, and everyone who supported the show. She would like to give a special thanks to Rico Thompson and Scarlett Wilson for hosting show and the Lucaya Youth Theatre Society for providing a technical crew for this year’s performance of Body Language. Lois Seiler is also tremendously appreciative of the support that she received from the program sponsors and notes that without their support, the pursuit of excellence in performing arts in Grand Bahama would not be possible.

The Lois Seiler Academy of Dance continue classes throughout summer and highlights that it is an excellent opportunity, as class sizes are smaller than term times, for beginners and those who lack confidence to try out new styles of dance and receive top quality instruction.  Students who wish to pursue excellence and work on improving their technique are also welcomed.  People can call 373-4457 or 352-7867 for more information.
