Defence Headquarters, (RBDF): In recognizing and rewarding the efforts of excellence in the workplace consistent with the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic intent of talent management, crew members of HMBS NASSAU of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s Squadron Department were dually recognized for their services during a brief ceremony at HMBS CORAL HARBOUR.

During the awards presentation on January 12, 2021, Captain Shawn Adderley, Acting Captain Coral Harbour, commended the Commanding Officer of HMBS NASSAU, Lieutenant Commander Samantha Hart on the phenomenal job the crew and vessel have done over the past year. In addressing them on behalf of Commodore King, he expressed his gratitude to the dedication and commitment, in conjunction with the various units of the Squadron Department for their services, exemplary attitude and execution of preserving our mandate to guard our heritage.

HMBS NASSAU is one of two 60-meter Bahama Class vessels that were commissioned in 2000. They recently underwent extensive modernization refit in Holland in 2017.

Receiving the overall awards as Most Outstanding Marines for their respective rates were Leading Mechanic Alton McDonald, Leading Woman Marine Alexis Laing and Marine Seaman Phenton Miller. The recipients all received a plaque and certificate for their efforts.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force says ‘Bravo Zulu’ to the Officers and Marines who continue to guard the territorial integrity of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
