The new Fall/Winter Film Series at the NAGB continues this Thursday night, October 27th, with the film, 'The Maestro: King of the Cowboy Artists'.

American director Les Blank during his lifetime made forty documentaries, and none more lovingly captured the spirit of what it is to be an artist than his 1994 film 'The Maestro: King of the Cowboy Artists'.

It is a look at an artist whose creativity and passion is unencumbered by commerce. In other words, he refuses to sell his artwork. The film also reveals a core theme of Blank’s films and career - don’t be afraid to be whatever it is you decide to be.

Creativity and the artist go hand in hand with presenting films at the NAGB. For every artist the creative process is different, and whether it is a painting, sculpture, or whatever the medium, all artists start with a desire to create something from nothing.

The Maestro: King of the Cowboy Artists screens on October 27th at 7pm. All films are free to attend and to make your experience that much more enjoyable; we will be offering popcorn and refreshments for sale.
