Manhunt Jr. Model Competition Introduced!
On Sunday, October 12th, the third annual Manhunt
Bahamas 2014 competition will take place at Superclub Breezes with an unforgettable pre-show of
young Bahamian talented performers Tebby Burrows and Shaquille Farrington.
Organizers of the
premiere male modeling competition have moved this year's event to
Nassau after two successful runs in Freeport, Grand Bahama. When the lights go
down at 8:30pm the eight sexy Titans will take to the
runway in pursuit of a dream of becoming the country's next
representative of the prestigious Manhunt International Bahamas title
which could possibly launch a professional modeling career for them.
"This is by far
an
impressive and diverse group of young men, and within two days of their
official release on our Manhunt Bahamas facebook page we have seen a
triple increase in
the page likes, and the page posts reaching some 20,000 persons," said
Oswald Ellis, event director. This year's contestants are Davin Johnson,
Nassau; Kenneth Kerr, Grand Bahama; Ted LaFleur, Nassau; Jomar Miller,
Nassau; Austin Rolle, Nassau; Dionte Burnside, Nassau; Fender Lacroix,
Nassau; and Tevin Evans Hudson, Nassau. With the growth of the
competition, Ellis launched a Jr. component to help build the annual
momentum. Running for Jr. Manhunt Bahamas is Jarad Rolle, Andros; Tajay
Downer, Nassau; Dometrius Taylor, Inagua; and Anthony Quant, Grand
Bahama.
The life of a male
model is not easy and often there are hundreds of men from all over the
world wanting the opportunity to be discovered, this is where
competitions such as Manhunt International makes it a little easier for
such young men, as winners at the international level are often awarded
model contracts for the year which often extend for years into the
future.
Both Manhunt Bahamas 2014 winners will be awarded scholarships to participate in the 2015
Music, Model & Talent Showcase of the Islands (MMTS)
conference to be held in Nassau, where models, singers, actors and
dancers from throughout the Caribbean will be scouted by international
talent agents focused specifically on signing Caribbean talent. The
Manhunt Bahamas 2014 winner's participation in MMTS will further enhance
their readiness for the international world of modeling and competing.
"What our young male
models require is support, support from family, friends and any
Bahamians who want to see our guys involved in something positive," said Ellis. "We are often close to making the leap into that
international world of fame and fortune, but sometimes fall short
because of lack of support and encouragement from our country. Smaller
countries have done so well in the world of modeling, there is no real
reason why we in the Bahamas can’t do the same. Let's open more
doors of opportunity and applaud our young men for walking through those
doors," Ellis added.
