Ambassador C.A. Smith invites Bahamians into his home in Washington

On Saturday, February 23^rd Ambassador C.A.Smith invited all locally residing Bahamians in Washington, DC to his residence for a ‘meet and greet’. Ambassador Smith felt it a good thing to get acquainted. Bahamians from all over Washington came. Ambassador Smith also expressed the importance of promoting The Bahamas and said that he is proud of the Bahamas Junkanoo Association, and will support them 100%.

The Bahamas Junkanoo Association of Metro-DC (BJAM-DC) formed in the summer of 2004 to promote Bahamian culture in the Washington D.C. area by participating in the annual DC Carnival parade. BJAM-DC has grown from having a core group based in the Washington-Maryland-Virginia area to having connections in Florida, Delaware and Philadelphia. The group has won at least one prize every year it has participated in the DC Carnival and this year promises to be its most spectacular. This year's theme will focus on the environment and endangered species; BJAM-DC will feature indigenous Bahamian animals and species from every continent.   Persons interested in participating can contact Khandra Sears at ksears@bjamdc.org.
