Bahamas Humane Society is the largest animal charity in the Bahamas and
the Oldest Charity in the Bahamas. In existence for over 70
years volunteers and staff alike have been working tirelessly to improve
the lives of animals in the Bahamas.Lately, we have seen an improvement, the clinics are much better attended and there is a greater sense of responsible animal ownership. Much of the improvement is due to the vigorous educational programme that we run. the Bahamas Humane Society
has a curriculum in every
government school for grades 1 - 12. We send speakers to hundreds of
school classes every year and hold special student clubs
around the island.
In addition to this we
respond to hundreds of cruelty complaints yearly, find homes for well
over 1200 cats and dogs every year, we run a 24 emergency
ambulance service, and provide the community with a reasonable priced
animal clinic. We hold spay and
neuter clinics and try and
instill the importance of responsible animal ownership to the general
public.

We will
be holding our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, September 29th at
the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, on Cable Beach (4th floor) at 6:30 in the evening. You can become a member now or
at the event and then you would be eligible to attend our AGM.
We
need members desperately, membership is really the bread and butter
money of a charitable organization, by becoming a member you can help
us
to continue to do the essential work that we do and enable us to do
more. If you are too busy to get involved, simply becoming a member
would be a
huge help because through general membership we
can have a steady income flow in.
