Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort appoints André R. Newbold Business Travel Sales Manager

– The Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, located in Nassau,
The Bahamas, has announced the appointment of André R. Newbold to the
newly-created position of Business Travel Sales Manager. Based in Nassau, Newbold is responsible for soliciting new and
existing transient and corporate accounts throughout the Bahamas in order meet and exceed
sales revenue goals. Newbold will also attend trade shows, community events and
industry meetings on behalf of the resort to develop new client relationships
and business leads.
Newbold comes to the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort with ten years of
luxury resort experience and over twenty years of experience in the hospitality
industry. For the past ten years, he served as the Director of Sales at
Sandals’ Royal
Bahamian Resort
Spa & Offshore Island, where he acted as the Department
Head for Sales & Marketing and Weddings, and supported the General Manger
on operational issues. He also orchestrated numerous domestic and international
events ranging from 100-1000 attendees.
Prior to that, Newbold spent ten years as Director of Sales and
Marketing of the Sheraton British Colonial Beach Resort, where he managed and
supervised sales and marketing functions for the 300-room hotel and supported
the General Manger on operational issues. He also traveled extensively overseas
to represent the resort at major trade shows and conventions including World
Travel Mart (London), ITB (Germany) and CHA Marketplace.
Newbold started his career in hospitality at the Sheraton British
Colonial Beach Resort as Activities Director/Guest Services, and worked his way
up to Sales Coordinator, and Sales Manager, where he assisted the Director of
Sales with boosting hotel revenues through solicitation of corporate clients.
Newbold studied marketing at Texas
Christian University
in Ft. Worth, Texas, and has completed various hospitality courses to help
further his career, including
Basic Hotel
Sales & Capturing the Leisure Travel Market course at the
Cornell School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca, NY; the Tourism Studies
Program at The College of the Bahamas in Nassau; and
Mastering Resort Sales And Service course from Master
Connections Associations, Professional Development Program, in Los Angeles. He
also received various industry awards, including The Cacique Award for Sales
Executive of the Year for 2004-2005 in Nassau,
The Bahamas;
The International
Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), Bahamas Sunny Isles
Chapter, for Executive of Year for 2007-2008; as well as a Certified
Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME) through HSMAI in Washington, DC.
