Dominican Republic - Easter 2010 saw a Bahamas Select team claim victory in the Dominican Republic’s International Cup, the country’s first beach soccer invitational tournament. The Presidente beer sponsored event saw the host nation’s Dominguito club matched up with The Bahamas in the final of the event, which saw our team triumph 4-3 with a last minute winner courtesy of the final goal of a hat trick from Nesley Jean. Jean’s trio of strikes, in conjunction with a goal from Gary Joseph saw The Bahamas take the crown. Jean’s winner came during a thrilling match during which the lead changed hands several times and the dramatic late score left the hosts without the time to recover.

Dominguito took the lead in the championship game with one goal each from Pablo Morillo and Wilmarer Banceoner, and ended the first half with a 2-1 lead. In the second period, Team Bahamas roared back in to the match first tying the score and then moving ahead 3-2. Banceoner scored again to level the score at 3-3 to end the second period.

The third period of play saw some exciting beach soccer from both sides and the match was still a contest until the final minute when Nesley Jean got the goal that gave the Bahamas the victory and the international title. Dominguito, despite playing well had to settle for second place in the event.
