Nassau, Bahamas - The BBFF kicked of its 2011 season on June 4th with the Novice championship, at the Performance Arts Theater. 1 week to fine tune their physiques, those novice athletes saw competition once again in Freeport June 11th with the Northern Bahamas Championships.
On Saturday July 2nd the biggest local competition for body building and fitness athletes took place at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, marking the return of body building to a well air condition, proper changing rooms, and comfort for both athletes and spectators alike by hosting it at this revenue.
As the competition got started and the night progressed, there were some obvious winners, and in other categories the judges had their hands full to determine, who will walk away with the win.
In the fitness short class, both ladies representing Grand Bahama, displayed condition, symmetry, muscle tone, and grace, as Dominique Wilkinson once again edged out Miranda for the win. Dominique would later go up against Ms Ceejay Hilton winner in the women’s tall class for the overall fitness woman title.

Dawn Charlton the only competitor in the Fitness routine division, displayed, strength, power moves, flexibility, choreography and gymnastic, to capture that division.
Naomi Fatal proved that her win in her first bikini competition was no fluke in Freeport. She took on Amy Sands winner in the New Providence bikini competition and came on out on top once they completed their model walk and turns for the judges.
Tammy Stubbs overall winner in the Northern Bahamas championship dominated the woman’s lightweight division once again, which also saw Lorraine LeFluer defeating Charmine McNabb in the woman’s heavyweight division.
This set the stage for the overall pose down once again with Stubbs and LeFluer, which saw LeFluer walking away with the overall win, as well as all of the top female body building awards that Stubbs carted of just 2 weeks prior in Freeport; best poser, best symmetry, and the overall title of Ms Bahamas 2011.
Charmine McNabb didn’t go home with out a win; she walked away with the female master 35 years and over title win.
As the competition got deeper into the night, the men took to the stage with the master 40 plus, Raymond Tucker got the win, Stephen Robinson 2nd and Lynden Fowler was 3rd. Bruce Silvera captured the men’s 50 plus.

In the men’s open division the results are as follows: Lightweight Lynden Fowler, welterweight Raymond Tucker 1st, Bruce Silvera 2nd, middleweight Amos Rolle 1st, Andrew Sweeting 2nd, and Stephen Robinson 3rd. heavyweight Tony Josey who also won best routine/poser, was 2nd and Robert Harris out of Freeport captured the 1st place stop which also set him up to capture the overall men’s title of Mr. Bahamas 2011 as well as most muscular.
The event also saw 2 of the Bahamas professional body builders perform during the half time show, Jay Darling vowed the crowd with his 202 lb frame, and was followed by Jena Mackey the only Bahamian female pro body builder brought the house down with a Beyonce like moves to her tune “Girls Who Run the World”.
A national team will be named in the upcoming weeks from amongst the winners and competitors who competed in this weekend Nationals, to travel to El Salvador in September to represent the Bahamas at the CAC Championships.
