Panama City, Panama - The Bahamas American Football Federation (BAFF) Junior National Team has taken its place in the history books and has no reason to hang their heads down after loosing to Panama’s Junior Team 56-6 on Saturday January 25th, 2009.
The qualifying game, held at Balboa Stadium in Panama City, Panama saw Team Bahamas a group of vibrant, well mannered young men playing football for a little over two years from a small nation thousands of miles from Panama, take on a team who was said to have been playing together since the age of seven.
The game got off to a slow start as each team began to feel out one another and pretty soon experience showed its head as Team Panama scored within the first half and never looked back.
Team Bahamas gave it a valiant effort by not being completely shut out of the game but there was nothing stopping Team Panama from running, blocking and passing their way to victory.
Panama now has the right to go onto the next round and Team Bahamas heads home in defeat but not in disgrace because of the loss.
They return home as hero’s and young men who can one day can say to players who will follow that they were the first to represent their country in the sport of American Football at a level where many say they would never get there and for this the 45 member Team Bahamas who took on Team Panama should be proud.
