Coconut Grove, Florida - View an early trailer for VOICES -- an independent documentary project that captured the stories of descendants of the original settlers of Coconut Grove (Miami) Florida. Filmed over nearly five years, this snippet from a longer feature-length film highlights the filmmaker's approach to his subject and showcases local artist JD Danner, whose haunting "Almost Home" captures the flavor of sentiments expressed by many of these children of the original builders of Coconut Grove and Miami.

“Voices” a documentary by Bahamian filmmaker Jeffrey Poitier,  nephew of the great Sidney Poitier, premiered at the AMC Theater in the beautiful CocoWalk at Coconut Grove this past Saturday the 25th of October.  The Bahamas Weekly was in attendance to cover the historical event.

The film was screened in The Bahamas in Grand Bahama Island on April 25th, 2009.
