Thanksgiving
is done and like a true holiday fanatic I’m ready to herald in the
season with some festive frocks. A few years ago I would have scoffed at
the idea of wearing sequins, but the beauty of fashion is that as you
evolve, so does your style. Apparently I’ve evolved into Sasha Fierce –
addicted to all things glam.
If
you’re looking for a way to add a little sparkle to your holiday
wardrobe, sequins is a surefire way to do so - literally. For the
daring, I’ve fallen in love with this ¾ sleeve backless number by ArynK
–
perfect for a no fuss yet attention getting way to ring in the New
Year. For more formal events, slipping a sequin trench over a simple LBD
(little black dress) is uber chic. I know we have become pashmina city,
trust me I totally approve – but I am ready to usher in some gorgeous
light weight cropped jackets and trenches for the cooler nights this
holiday season. The Iisli trench pictured is a definite splurge, but
a stunning accompaniment to any evening dress.
Sequins
are not only nocturnal. A little sequin camisole peeking from under a
business suit is also cute and an easy way to go from day to night when
paired with a pencil skirt and tailored blazer. When wearing sequin
garments, especially for daytime, keep all other elements of the look
very simple.
If
you’re a little wary to take the plunge, dabble with accessories. A
shimmery strip of fabric used as a sash is adorable to highlight the
waist in a dress or over-sized tank. Equally attention getting is an
allover sequin beret or clutch. I stumbled across this sequin Phillip
Lim bib that can literally be paired with anything! Wear it with a LBD
and pumps, a simple white t-shirt and jeans or peeking out from under a
blazer - the possibilities are endless.
Have
fun with fashion. Sequins celebrate femininity and can be flirty and
girly or chic and sophisticated. Take a risk this holiday season and get
your shine on!
