Here Comes The Bride: Fall Wedding Dress Trends

I’ll admit, I’m terrified of marriage.
My closest female friends are either just as terrified as I am or
consummate scholars who will probably be studying well into their
thirties which we all believe will prevent those oh-so-important
nuptials from taking place. Our male friends often joke that we’ll be
spinsters in our later years - heaven forbid.
However, lately marriage has been consuming my mind. My closest
friends may be running from commitment like the plague, but all of my
other friends are jumping in wholesale. Add to that my current
obsession with the television shows “Say Yes to the Dress” and “Four
Weddings,” I’m convinced everyone is getting married.
Even designers are hearing wedding bells. Dolce & Gabbana
presented their spring 2011 collection in Milan last week. The
collection was almost entirely white - they drew inspiration from the
idea of a bride’s hope chest and centered the collection around items,
both new and old that she would place into her bridal trousseau in
preparation for her new life as a wife.
If you’re going to start a new life as a wife, what better time to
do so than in the fall. The simplicity and lightness of a spring
wedding, and the brightness and energy of a summer wedding just pale in
comparison to the boldness, glamour and beauty of a fall wedding.
Where there is a wedding, there will be a wedding dress. Undeniably
the task of finding the perfect gown is one of the most daunting in the
entire wedding process. Finding a dress that is flattering, embodies
your personality, will make your husband-to-be swoon and yet still make
your parents cry tears of joy is a lot to ask of one dress. But rest
assured there is a gown to suit every personality.

Fifties Fashionista
For fashion lovers, classic gowns with
subtle nods to current trends are all the rage. Prim and proper fifties
inspired numbers are the epitome of glamour, perfect for statement fall
weddings. Fifties style gowns are also coming outfitted with belts,
creating a stunning hourglass silhouette and making classic styles au
courant.
Sexy Siren
Figure hugging dresses are a very popular
silhouette among brides, and according to fashion forecasters will be a
hot trend for seasons to come. Mermaid style dresses straddle the fence
of sexy and classic. Fitted in the bodice and hips, this silhouette is
fifties inspired and great for a bride who wants to highlight her
figure with a classic silhouette.
Natural Goddess
For the more laid back bride, a simple
grecian dress can be stunning. Empire waist with light floaty fabrics,
grecian dresses make a loud statement without trying too hard. Layered
tiered skirts and asymmetrical dresses are also easy to wear and very
modern options for the no-fuss bride.

Classic
Strapless ball gowns will forever be a staple for
the classic princess bride. Take it a step further with a sweetheart
neckline. All the rage for fall 2010, sweetheart necklines are
flattering on almost all bust sizes and are ultra feminine.
Non-Traditional
The non-traditional bride has long opted for
a splash of color in her gown to stand out. Now, not only is wearing
color a trend for those who want an out of the box gown, but wearing a
shorter tea length gown is as well. For those who want a traditional
dress, but love the idea of a shorter gown, opt for a wardrobe change
featuring a tea length dress for your reception.
Bridesmaids
Gone are the days of one-style-fits-all bridal
party attire. At one time, simply choosing a color and allowing your
bridesmaids to choose their own gown was a radical thought when it came
to weddings, now it’s almost a given.
The myriad of styles, lengths and silhouettes can make choosing
just one gown overwhelming for a bride-to-be. Staying true to your
personality and choosing a style that flatters your figure is key.
