St Lucian recording artist Mecca's song "Flat Stomach" to hit Paris fashion runway - Apr 29, 2014 - 11:31:22 PM
Saint Lucian Parisian fashion celebrity,
Vincent Mc Doom has just announced that recording artist, Keen Cotter
aka The Mecca, who hails from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia will
have his song, "Flat Stomach" (also referred as "Runway Walk") featured
at the upcoming 2014 Labo Ethnik Fashion Trade Show in Paris, France
this May. Flat Stomach is an upbeat, hip and edgy song perfect for the
runway.
"When I was putting together the playlist for HotCouture
2013 I asked the local models who the best DJs on the island were and
one model Denise Lay spoke to me about Mecca's album," said Vincent
McDoom who is the casting and artistic director of this years Labo
Ethnik. "I listen to the entire album but one song stood out for runway
walking, and so I trained the models for six weeks on that song..."

Brittany Noon, a Saint Lucian model who will have the honor of being first

Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) and emphasized the importance
of thinking globally.

Colonial Hilton Hotel on the 30th of March, 2014 Fashion For A Cause
exceeded it’s founders expectation as it proved to be a great platform
for The Bahamas AIDS Foundation and their campaign of ‘Getting To
Zero’.
Taking the stage, founder, Kendrick David Kemp spoke of providing an
alternative to the Foundation’s ‘Red Ribbon Ball’ which focuses on a
more mature crowd but not before The Bahamas AIDS Foundation President,
Lady Camille Barnett spoke to onlookers about her organization and their
efforts.
Lady Camille Barnett as well as Mrs. Loretta Butler-Turner and Mrs.
Leslia Miller-Brice were all in attendance, joining hands and hearts to
the organization’s cause.

Never mind the chilly Atlanta weather, Abaco’s Ms. Elsie was
determined to show her heritage as a beautiful Bahamian bride. On March
23, 2014, Elsie Beatrice and Thomas Richard Robinson exchanged said ‘I
do’ while wearing the signature fabric print of The Bahamas, Androsia.
The bride further complimented her look with a bouquet made of seashells
and a Bahamian straw braided tiara.
Among
the well wishers who attended the intimate nuptial exchange was Counsel

Vancouver Fashion Week sees exponential growth in 13th year - Mar 19, 2014 - 2:48:01 PM
Vancouver Fashion Week
opened its Fall/Winter edition with an opening gala last night at the
Chinese Cultural Center and runs with nightly shows until March 24th.
The center was filled to capacity with patrons said to be waiting to get
in right up until the last set of heels left the runway during the
designer sneak peek segment.
The event was official opened by Vancouver City councilor Adrianne Carr
who read a proclamation, and a rep from the Canadian government,
Andrew Saxton, M.P. also spoke, stating that "Vancouver Fashion Week is
now the largest fashion week in Canada (yes even bigger than Toronto)
and it is the second largest in North America". I am still verifying
these statistics but with over 60 designers this year, and to see last
night's crowd, it may very well be true...

PARIS, France - Now
in its eighth season, one of the biggest international fashion trade
shows, Labo Ethnik Fashion and Lifestyle is set for May 22nd - 26th at
Cite de la Mode
in Paris. The trade show is open to all professional confirmed
designers, but the
event will also host an emerging talent contest which is open to
talented hopeful from around the globe. The emerging designer show will
take place on May 24th and is under the artistic direction of Vincent
McDoom.
McDoom, who is also overseeing the model casting and has a passion for
highlighting Caribbean models and designers said, "This is a huge
opportunity for Caribbean models and designers alike to network and be

Each season
fashion week in New York offers emerging fashion designers who
take a unique approach to conceptualizing apparel. Concepts can
range from colors, shape texture and a combination of everything
that the creative mind can conceive. This season TeKay Designs,
a couture studio based in Houston Texas, presented Queen
of the Brides, a collection of gowns with accessories that are
historic and have a cultural significance.
TeKay's presentation opened with an acoustic chorus sound track,
chromatic luminance and a branded light projection. Ethnic
diversity was applied to model selection; as each model graced
the catwalk with authoritarian elegance. But not without a
subtle 'vogue pose' here and there. While some gowns are

Bahamian designer Theodore Elyett’s Orchidnized Chaos collection stole
the show at the Fashions Finest Emerging Designer Showcase held during
London Fashion Week.
Eight emerging designers showed collections
at the off-schedule runway show held at the Grand Connaught Rooms,
Covent Gardens. The Fashions Finest show is renown for highlighting
emerging designers and attracts press and buyers from around the world
seeking new talent.

was crowned Miss Jamaica Universe 2013 and represented her country at
the Miss Universe 2013 pageant has been added to the model pool for TCI

Kerrie Baylis is an investment banker who
holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Surrey with a

fourth woman in Jamaican history to the take the Miss Jamaica
