Just six years ago, Kevin Evans was completing his course of study at The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI). Today, he is one of the top three fashion designers in the Miami RAWards semi-final competition scheduled for November 22nd.

Using bold hues and innovative designs, the debonair men’s wear designer acknowledged BTVI as the springboard for landing him in the multi-faceted artistic showcase in Florida.
“BTVI brought out my sewing skills, an ability I didn’t know I had. The experience did wonders for me. They taught me to be a professional in whatever I do,” said the 33-year-old who has his own label dubbed

Bridgetown, Barbados -  The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) is pleased to announce that following the recent call for designers, seven designers have been selected to be supported to attend Dominicana Moda (DM2013) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on October 21-26, 2013.

The seven fashion design firms are; ILashan Apparel & Handmade Jewelry from The Bahamas; the Andrew Harris Collection of Barbados; Odanis Valdez Polonia from the Dominican Republic; MARSAE of Guyana; Mag Art from Haiti; Patwa Apparel Ltd from Jamaica and MEILING Inc. from Trinidad and Tobago.

Patricka Ferguson, the 17 year old winner of Supermodel of the Bahamas 2013 is back home on Grand Bahama  Island resting after a whirlwind trip to western Canada to walk in Vancouver Fashion Week, and, what a week it was!  The 5'7" exotic beauty  never had a moment's rest during her busy schedule of daily auditions, rehearsals, photo shoots, and nightly runway shows.

Being the new kid on the block, and from another country, Patricka did extremely well, walking in several of the top shows of the week and donning fashions from eight designers overall: Vivid Haiku Meroe (USA), Elfer Castro (Peru), Ewi Twins Fashion Label (Canada), Nikki Babie (Canada), El Closet di mi Hermana (Peru), Dong De Xi (Seoul), Kaye Morales (Philippines), and Lilla Csefalvay (Hungary). The Bahamas dominated season 3 of Mission Catwalk, the
reality TV Caribbean fashion designers showdown produced out of Jamaica.  After an exciting season it was down to three male designers for the final episode, David Rolle (Bahamas), Renardo Lloyd  (Jamaica), and Theodore Elyett (Bahamas).

The final runway battle was held at Trident Castel, Port Antonia, Jamaica and designers had 3 months to prepare 12 pieces. A final twist was thrown at the designers before the finale showcase, and that was to remove one of their pieces from the collection, and design a men's look for their line.
