Vancouver Fashion Week to kick off with sparkling Opening Gala - Sep 14, 2014 - 12:38:16 AM
Vancouver Fashion Week is set to
kick off off with a sparkling Opening Gala on Monday, September 15th at
the Queen Elizabeth Plaza. The Gala, hosted by Vancouver’s own Mary
Zilba will be co presenting with MC Anthony Lewis. Additional guest
speakers will include Vancouver’s public speaker, traveler and activist,
Patti De Sante.
The doors will
open to guests, media and designers at 6:30 pm. Introductions, speeches
and designer showcases will start at 8pm and go on into the early
evening. Shuttles will be provided to transport guests to the official
after party at The Donnelly Group’s Republic nightclub.

Vancouver Fashion Week Moves to New Venue - Sep 10, 2014 - 11:29:36 PM
Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) is fast approaching and will take place from the 15th to the 21st of September at Queen Elizabeth Plaza
under a 13,956 square foot tent. The Presenting Sponsor, Procter and
Gamble, team up with VFW for the second season and will be bringing in
beauty bars and 3D makeup mirrors by COVERGIRL, Pantene and Olay. During
the week, the doors will open at 4:30pm to present collections from 70
local and international designers, representing over 25 countries
worldwide.
The Opening gala will take place on the 15th of
September. Doors open at 6:30pm with introductions, speeches and
designer showcases running from 8pm into the early evening. Official
after parties with Donnelly Group will take place every night with
shuttles transporting guests to the group’s nightclubs and lounges...

Despite the inclement weather, which caused a last minute change of
venue, the Fashion 4 Foundation team delivered a memorable evening, and
accomplished their mandate of raising funds for the Ranfurly Homes for
Children.
Initially set to venue at the Home itself, the event
moved to the Dundas' Black Box Theatre, squeezing close to 200 people in
the space. Due to the changes and limited space the organizers ran two
shows, one at 8pm and another at 10pm...

This year's national costume worn by Miss Universe Grand Bahama wowed
the nation as Tomii Culmer paraded in the 'Sea Goddess' outfit created
by Nassau designer, Javotte Bethel. The intricate back piece shaped like
a half clam shell was covered in treasures from the sea, along with a
sheer fitted bodice with jewels in all the right places looked magical
on this year's winner. Now that Tomii won the title Miss Universe
Bahamas, this fabulously piece will be seen before a global audience at
the next Miss Universe!
"Tomii and I have known each other for a while and certainly she's
aware that Javotte House of Couture produces unique designs. She engaged
me after her entry in the Miss Universe hoping for a design that might
increase her chances of the win," said Bethel. "She said she was open to
my creativity and would fully support my concept..."

Bahamian designer, Anthea Bullard recognized in Washington - Jul 5, 2014 - 2:49:09 PM
Washington, DC - Fashion designer for luxury brand Hardour
Collection, Anthea Bullard was recognized and awarded in the United
States capital of Washington, DC for Fashion Innovation and overall
fashion contributions to the Caribbean community at large, by the Karib
Nation non-profit organization in celebration of National Caribbean
American Heritage Month. Anthea was being recognized for her iconic red

FRANCE - May 22nd
through 25th was all about fashion in Paris, as Labo Ethnik Fashion and
Lifestyle, an international fashion trade show, took place at Cite de la
Mode in Paris. This year was the 8th edition, and this annual fashion
event is about giving international fashion designers the opportunity to
showcase their brand, designs and style to not only a French audience,
but to international visitors, press and fashionistas.
There were 80 brands
displaying their designs and accessories, giving you the opportunity to
meet the designers and purchase their beautiful designs. Furthermore,
there were fashion shows with more than 20 designers showcasing their
masterpieces on the runway, like Yoodi, Deborah Manene, Nansa Camara,
Madoki, Nubia, Chalina Couture and so on.

Twenty-two year old Ajayi Ballentine Clarke of Nassau, Bahamas has just been appointed the
face of Labo Ethnik (Paris) Fashion and Lifestyle event by casting
director and Saint Lucian Parisian fashion celebrity, Vincent Mc Doom.
"I've
been working on the runway as we prepare for the May 22nd fashion
show," said McDoom who is also the event's artistic director. "My
assistant came up to me and showed me the photo of Ajayi since we are in
the process of calling agencies for our general casting on May 12th."
