Nassau, Bahamas - Fired up over the start of
a new Rotary year, the executive team of the Rotary Club of South East
Nassau (RCSEN) is moving to expand a programme geared towards lowering
the rate of teenage pregnancy in The Bahamas.

Over involves giving computerised dolls to male and female students to
take home for the weekend. These high-tech dolls require feeding,
bathing and changing. They also cry, smile, etc. The students then have
to write an essay about their experiences," explained new club

Nassau, Bahamas - The Rotary Club of Nassau is hosting an Art Exhibition and Auction on Friday, July 19
which will allow us to raise funds to carry out the various community
service projects the we have planned for this year.

held at Government House from 6:30-9:30pm
and promises to be a cultural affair. It is under the patronage of

The 242 Colour Run comes to Nassau on July 13th - Jul 6, 2013 - 1:43:38 PM
Nassau, Bahamas – The
242 Colour Run is premiering in Nassau on Saturday, July 13th, 2013,
designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Bahamas Independence.
The event will benefit the Rotary Club of East Nassau and the Rotaract
Club of East Nassau. Registration is now open online, with more details
at run242.com. Participants can also register at any of The Sports
Center locations.
The 5km (3.1 miles) event is designed to be
fun for all – with no winners or official times, participants can feel
free to run or walk the event at their own pace. The community building
event is to be fun and family friendly, and to bring Bahamians
together to celebrate our 40 years of independence.

Rotaract Club of Freeport Installation Ceremony - Jul 6, 2013 - 12:17:30 PM
Freeport, Grand Bahama - The Rotaract Club
of Freeport installed its new board of officers for 2013-2014 on Wednesday,
June 26th at the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce. In attendance were members
and distinguished Rotarians from the various Rotary Clubs in Grand Bahama,
along with family and friends. The new board officers received certificates and
pins, dignifying their various positions that will be carried out in the club. Representatives
from the Rotary clubs of Freeport, Lucaya and Sunset commended the club on it
past services and efforts, as well as extended words of encouragement for a
successful future

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Works and Urban Development the Hon. Philip Davis told members
and guests of Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise, on July 4, 2013, that free
communication between leaders of both private and public sectors on
a regular, ongoing basis is essential to partnership that returns benefits
to all.
“Public / private partnership is not considered
to be a novel concept,” Deputy Prime Minister Davis said. “The
desirability of these arrangements is widely recognised by international
agencies.”

Rotary Club Of Nassau Sunrise Revs Up Students For Reading - Jul 1, 2013 - 7:12:12 PM
Nassau, Bahamas – 2013 has truly been a
banner year for the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise who early in the year
set an aggressive Literacy Agenda for itself. This agenda included a
literacy book drive at local bookstores, Reading Time at Willard Patton
Pre-School and two mini Reading Fairs at the Ranfurly Home for Children
and the Willamae Pratt Centre for Girls.

Freeport, Bahamas - Presentation of the Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter Award for June
2013 took place at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Lucaya, at Ruby
Swiss Restaurant on Tuesday, June 11th. Awarded was Mr. Shone Hepburn, who lives in Grand Bahama Island.
His story: At about 5:45pm on Sunday, 26th May, 2013, Mr Shone Hepburn of Seahorse
Village, was driving his white Chrysler Town & Country minivan,
north along Shearwater Drive in Lucaya. He came upon a black 1997
Toyota SUV, which had broken down in the road, leaving the driver and
passenger stranded.

speaker at the Rotary Club of South East Nassau’s weekly luncheon
meeting held at the East Villa Restaurant on East Bay Street. The

relationship as well as the role of the U.S. Embassy and its ongoing

Tuesday afternoon at the Ruby Swiss Restaurant, taxi driver Keith Cooper
of Deadman's Reef received the " Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter
Award for March 2013".
On Friday 15th March 2013 around 8:10am, a female resident of West Grand
Bahama, was driving her champagne Honda Accord east along the Warren J
Levarity Highway, on her way to work in Freeport.
As she got in the vicinity of Bahama Rock Company, the left front tyre
on her vehicle suddenly blew out, causing her to lose control of the

Freeport, Grand Bahama – One of the leading
international shipping companies in the world, Mediterranean Shipping
Company Bahamas Ltd. (MSC) has come to the aid of local group home,
Columbus House, to repair the roof of one of their buildings.
Columbus
House is an organization that supports young boys and girls, ages 12 to
18, who are either from abused or abandoned homes and aims to provide a
safe place for them to live, plus social support through mentoring
programs. Many of these children have come from The Grand Bahama
Children’s Home where that non-profit organization cares for children of
a younger age...

Nassau, Bahamas - The Rotary Club of East
Nassau will be joining the Antique Auto Club of The Bahamas at Arawak Cay on
Saturday March 23 for the Antique Auto Show & Cook-out. Promoted as a
Family Affair, Rotary will be operating several games for the children,
including a Bouncy Castle as well as selling Cotton Candy, Popcorn and Ice
Cream.
“This partnership is a
natural fit.” said Rotary Director Paul Cartwright “The Auto Club helps us with
our Annual Bed Race and we are happy to assist by providing something different
at their Annual Auto Show. Both clubs are working towards the same end; that is

Lil Joe Cartwright wins Most Courteous Driver of The Quarter - Dec. 2012 - Jan 16, 2013 - 12:31:57 AM
Freeport, Grand Bahama - At about 1:15pm on Sunday 9th December 2012,Mr Edward Deveaux of Holmes
Rock was returning home from a fishing trip off West End, driving his
Dodge Ram truck with his Boston Whaler boat hitched on a trailer,
travelling east along Queens Highway in Deadmans Reef, when the left
wheel on the trailer broke off, dropping the boat down onto the tarmac.
Shortly afterwards, Mr Joseph " Lil Joe" Cartwright came upon the scene
in his truck, where he saw Mr Deveaux struggling with the broken down
boat trailer, while parked in the eastbound lane of the highway, in a
very dangerous position, as this is an isolated section of roadway where
many drivers travel at very fast speeds...
