The Permanent Representative of Grenada to the Organization of American
States (OAS), Yolande Smith, today assumed the chair of the Permanent
Council of the Organization, which is held on a rotating basis every
three months.
Ambassador Smith spoke of the importance of
carrying out the Council's actions based on integrity. "Integrity in the
process, in the way we conduct our daily affairs, in the responsibility
entrusted to us; at the end of the day we are representatives of our
countries and our symbols, our sovereignty and our statehood must be

With the approval of all the documents submitted for voting by the
member states, the 49th General Assembly of the Organization of American
States (OAS) concluded today in Medellín, Colombia.
In the last
plenary session, the Assembly approved resolutions on Venezuela and

The Colombian singer Fanny Lu was named Goodwill Ambassador of the
Organization of American States (OAS) by Secretary General Luis Almagro,
in a ceremony held in the context of the OAS General Assembly in
Medellin, Colombia.

The satellite services company ViaSat officially joined today the 2030
ICT Alliance, an initiative led by the Inter-American Telecommunications
Commission (CITEL) of the Organization of American States. This
alliance seeks to connect 1.5 billion people globally by 2020, connect
all public schools to the internet to by 2030, promote digital training,
develop talents for the digital economy, and strengthen democratic
participation through new technologies.

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the University of Sao
Paulo (USP) today signed a cooperation agreement to assist the study
center in the development of tools and training for observing the
upcoming electoral processes in Brazil.

with the OAS Department for Electoral Cooperation and Observation
(DECO), inaugurated the first National Electoral Observatory in Brazil...

OAS to Advise Paraguay on Electoral Matters - Jun 1, 2019 - 7:30:32 AM
The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Superior Tribunal of
Electoral Justice (TSJE) of Paraguay today signed an agreement for the
provision of technical cooperation in electoral matters during a
ceremony held at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in
Washington, DC.
The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro,
explained that the agreement will allow the Organization to provide
technical support to the TSJE in the reforms it is carrying out. "The
