FLIFF on Location: Grand Bahama Island
is a 2011 outreach initiative through the collaboration between the
Grand Bahama Ministry of Tourism and the Fort Lauderdale International
Film Festival, now in its 26th year. The event is set to kickoff this
Thursday, October 27th featuring a FREE for all event at Taino Beach park grounds with the outdoor screening of the family feature-length film,
Beneath the Blue which was shot entirely on Grand Bahama Island and much in a close proximity to the Taino Beach area in the Smith's Point settlement.

About Fifty at the Sunrise Civic Center Theater. The festival runs until November 22nd and this year features 4 days in
Grand Bahama Island from October 27th through the 30th with the Pelican
Bay Hotel Canal House as the host site.
In the audience was young Bahamian Katrina Dorsett of Freeport who won the Grand Bahama Youth Film competition and had her film
Cyberbullying
screened the following day, October 22nd at FLIFF. Her film will be

FLIFF Tickets now ON SALE at Pelican Bay Resort! - Oct 22, 2011 - 5:08:49 PM
Freeport, Grand Bahama - “All Movies All Day,” “All
Access” and “Function Tickets” are now available for the Fort
Lauderdale International Film Festival on location at Grand Bahama
Island. In addition, organizers have released the full schedule of
films and special events to take place during the occasion, which will
run from Thursday, October 27 to Sunday, October 30.
In addition to two workshops: Underwater Cinematography and Filmmaking
in the Caribbean, more than 25 films will be shown over three days
during the inaugural FLIFF On Location at the state of the art Canal

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND - Members of the recently
appointed five-member Blue Ribbon Selection Panel are scheduled to review
submissions by Filmmakers of the Bahamas on Thursday October 14, 2011.
Ten films produced by local filmmakers
have been submitted in the short and full length feature categories.
Upon selection, they will be screened by Bahamas Film, Plays and Review
Board for approval for viewing by the public, at the inaugural Ft Lauderdale
Film Festival on Location in Grand Bahama. The film festival takes
place October 26 – 30 and the selected films will be featured on Saturday,
October 28 at the brand new state of the art Canal House at Pelican

facilitate a one day workshop for underwater videographers at beginning and
intermediate skill levels.
Participants must provide their own underwater video

Katrina Dorsett has been announced
as the winner of the inaugural Grand Bahama Youth Film Competition (GBYFC)
for her film
Cyber-Bullying.
Katrina, a 14 year old student
from Bishop Michael Elden, focused on an internationally recognized
topic affecting young people around the world. She says,
“As teenagers it can be hard growing
up with peer pressure and bullying. If you have low self-esteem, you
can be pushed to the edge like Anna. The story is about killing someone’s
self-esteem with words that aren’t said aloud...”

GB Youth Film Competition Deadline Approaches - Jul 28, 2011 - 9:25:17 AM
Freeport, Bahamas- The
Grand Bahama Youth Film Competition is calling for all 12 to 18 year olds on Grand Bahama to submit a short film
by midnight, 1st August 2011 in
order to win some incredible prizes. Parents are asked to encourage
their children to turn this opportunity into a learning experience
during the summer time.
Teenagers who fall in
the age range at the deadline, can make a film, five minutes or less,
with the theme ‘A Conversation in Grand Bahama’ and win $500 cash, a
professional quality video camera, a trip to Fort Lauderdale Film
Festival (FLIFF), attend a master class workshop with professional
cinematographers and have their film screened at FLIFF on location at Grand
Bahama and in Florida.
