Nassau, Bahamas - Today’s forecast calls for Sunshine. Sunshine Insurance has donated to meteorologist and author, Wayne Neely for his latest book, The Greatest and Deadliest Hurricanes of The Bahamas, the Caribbean and the Americas. The book is slated to be released on July 1 – one month after hurricane season officially begins.

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Students and members of the public had the opportunity to participate in a Lecture and Book-Signing Event by Dr. Sidney McPhee, Bahamian President of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and author of the book, China Through the Eyes of an American University President, at Chapter 1 Bookstore of the College of The Bahamas on Monday, March 9.

Dr. McPhee’s book, published in June of 2012 by the Hanban-Confucius Institute, comprises a photographic essay of more than 100 illustrations capturing the people and places of China and revealing the nation’s charm and complex culture...

GREAT BAY, St. Martin  —From Yvette’s Kitchen To Your Table – A Treasury of St. Martin’s Traditional and Contemporary Cuisine by Yvette Hyman, is now in its 4th printing, which has just been released here by House of Nehesi Publishers (HNP).

The cookbook has been a bestseller since it was first published in 2011. The island’s bookshops have been without the title, however, since mid-2014, when the third printing was sold out, said HNP president Jacqueline Sample.

Simmons Bowe, PhD. Educator, Trainer, Motivational Speaker, Researcher, and Marathon Runner was born a child of poverty in Nassau, Bahamas, in an urban low socioeconomic area.  She was the sixth of eight children who were raised by a single divorcee. She and her siblings were raised in a shack, but were told that education would be their way out.

Defying the odds, Dr. Marilyn graduated from R. M. Bailey High School at the age of 15.  She attended College of The Bahamas and earned an AS in biochemistry at the age of 17. After an initial career as an industrial lab chemist, she earned a B.Sci. in premedical biology with minors in chemistry and education, from Barry University in Miami, Florida and graduated Magna cum laude...

New Milford, New Jersey – Guyanese American author Christopher H.K. Persaud was recently honored in Miami, Florida at the 2014 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award ceremony. The award was the author’s fifth international award.

Persaud’s book, The Da Vinci Code Revisited: A Conclusive Refutation of the Widespread, Sinister Lie (Xlibris Corporation, USA, 2013, Revised) earned top marks in the Non Fiction – Inspirational category of the 2014 READERS’ FAVORITE INTERNATIONAL BOOK COMPETITION and was awarded a Silver medal. The Da Vinci Code Revisited also received a five-star rating via an official Readers’ Favorite organization book-reviewing process

Nassau, Bahamas - Breast Cancer Survivor Sharine Symonette, a Bahamian mother of 3 has recently published her first book entitled “Candle in the Wind” and is hosting a book launch, Thursday, January 15th, 2015 at  at the Centerville Medical Centre, #68 Collins Avenue from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

In this book Mrs. Symonette chronicles her journey through diagnosis, surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, relapse and remission. The burning candle symbolizes storms and trials in our lives, but it never blows out, meaning that there is hope.  She discusses the practical steps that helped her make it through along with the support of her family and friends which encouraged her to keep going.

Bahamian meteorologist, Wayne Neely has released another book about hurricanes, and this time it's on the Great Okeechobee Hurricane of 1928.

"For the last two years I had the opportunity to write and compile a comprehensive book called , The Great Okeechobee Hurricane of 1928-The Story of the Second Deadliest Hurricane in American History and the Deadliest Hurricane in Bahamian History.  This book is based on the great impact this storm had on the Caribbean, The Bahamas and the United States in 1928," said the author who's last published book was The Great Bahama Hurricane of 1929...

The Washington Times - Can a nice white boy from Harbour Island (a tiny Eden-like island off Eleuthera in the Bahamas), a kid who doesn't drink or smoke or do ganja, become a top-tier kickboxer, make millions as a marijuana smuggler, go to Prince Charles' wedding to Diana Spencer, live the good life, get busted and come out the other end a nice white boy who still lives on Harbour Island?

That's the premise of award-winning Washington Times columnist John McCaslin's "Weed Man," the incredible story of a Conchy Joe (that's how white Bahamians are known) named Jimmy Moree, aka Jimmy Divine.

The majority of the story takes place in the 1970s. Barely out of his teens, newly married and running a dive shop on Treasure Cay in the northern Bahamas, Jimmy was jogging on the beach, "rounded a point and had fun trying to jump over a large bale of what appeared to be hay...
