On Saturday, September 15, at the annual Freeport Players’ Guild
President’s Cocktail Party which opens the theatre season Liselle
Harris-Russell was conferred with Lifetime Membership. This prestigious
honour places her in the company of such luminaries as Sir Jack Hayward

Friday Sept 7, 2018 Bahamas Federation of Performing arts (BFPA) held it's
second
Legal Round Table discussion with a very engaged audience at the C.A.
Smith Building Training Room. The presenter was their Legal Affairs
Director, Jacy Whittaker who delved further into the legal steps one
must
take in order to protect their creative works via Copyright, Trademarks
and patents. At times the audience was quite shocked by the realities
pertaining to creative rights protection in The Bahamas and the
limitations Vis-a-vis the United States.
The
event was free for BFPA members and $5 for non members. The information
attendees received would have cost several hundred dollars or more to
have their questions answered as they were at the Legal Round Table...

The National Junkanoo Committee (NJC) introduces the annual
NJC-MobileAssist Viewers Choice Award, an award that is determined by
allowing fans to vote for their favorite Junkanoo group in the
MobileAssist app. Kishlane O’Brien and Dr. Dwight Marshall
(Co-Chairpersons of the National Junkanoo Committee) wanted to find a
way to give Junkanoo fans a voice and a chance to participate in their
very own voting process and the MobileAssist App was the answer.
MobileAssist and the National Junkanoo Committee joined forces, making
the 2018 New Year’s Day parade its first MobileAssist Viewers Choice

One thing’s for certain, if you
didn’t catch The Holy Hook Up when it landed on stage as a teaser last
year, you’re bound to fall in love hook, line and sinker when it returns
full blast at the Regency Theatre on Friday, June 8th.
When the
play first debuted, it lasted all of 30 minutes and shared the stage
with two others. This time around, Shauna Joseph Productions promises
it’s returning with all the bells and whistles, additional cast members
and a whole lot more laughs.
Best known for her vocal skills, the singer, songwriter, actor and now

Bahamian artist commemorates Royal Wedding with "Mother's Blessing" - May 22, 2018 - 7:30:22 PM
Premier Bahamian ‘celebrity artist’ Jamaal Rolle recently placed brush
to canvas to commemorate the Royal Wedding of the now Duke and Duchess
of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The painting entitled
“Mother’s Blessing” depicts a heavenly image of the late Princess Diana
as she smiles on the new union of her son Harry and Meghan embracing
with a kiss on their wedding day.
Jamaal Rolle previously met
Prince Harry during his visit to The Bahamas on March 4th, 2012, for the
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. During Prince Harry’s visit,

Bahamian Company, My Bahamas Sponge, made its inaugural international
tradeshow day view On May 1-3 at the IDS Spring Show in Atlanta,
Georgia. The show was a cash and carry event featuring exhibitors
selling a variety of products including jewelry, clothing, and household
items. The buyers at the show were mainly individuals and smaller
boutique-type stores.
My Bahamas Sponge, whose motto is “100% Natural
100% Bahamian - we have a sponge for everything” was the only exhibitor
selling sea sponges at this event, and showcased mainly bath and
decorative sea sponges...
