With less than two months before the highly anticipated Bahamas Carnival Road March event, Presidente, is keeping the party going with its series of themed parties. After officially launching the start of the ‘Fete-ing Season’ with its Mardi Gras party which took over Pompey Square last month, President will host the next event this Saturday, April 7th.

The Traveling Caribbean Film Showcase (TCFS) is being presented in several Caribbean islands, screening more than 20 films from around the Caribbean. Films will be shown in Nassau, February 19 – 21, 2018, from noon to 9:00 p.m. on February 19 and 21 and on February 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All screenings are free to the public.

The Movie Masters public forum with producers, sponsored by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Film Commission and the University of The Bahamas (UB), will allow accomplished film producers and directors to share their knowledge and experiences with Bahamian filmmakers. The effort is intended to inspire filmmakers to create content and enhance their level of production...

The Bahamas Federation of Performing Arts announces the first of a series of events, a Legal Round Table. The round table discussion covers the legal steps for one to take in order to protect their creative works via Copyright, Trademarks and patents. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday February 20th, 7pm at Mackey Media Studios located at Grand Lucayan behind the former Paradise Jewels, just outside of the old casino exit.
 
Admission is free for members and and $5 donation for non members. Seating is limited and available via online registration at: performingarts242.com. The presenter for the evening is BFPA Legal Affairs Director, Attorney Jacy Whitaker.

The 'Tru Tru Bahamian Festival' over the weekend at John Watling's Distillery, Buena Vista Estate, was a real ‘Bahamiana’ celebration of food, drink, music, arts and crafts, Junkanoo, of course, Police Band fanfare, and fun-filled activities for the children.  Local residents and visitors enjoyed the best-of-The-Bahamas showcase.  Minister of Tourism and Aviation, the Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar chatted with vendors, viewing a range of products of local entrepreneurial spirit.  Director General of Tourism Joy Jibrilu also attended, as did the Deputy Director, Ellison ‘Tommy’ Thompson.

In true Bahamian style, the Rake n Scrape delegation lit up the stage with their colorful renditions at this year’s Holiday Folk Fair in West Allis, Wisconsin.

The international festival, which is held annually over a five-day span at the Exposition Center of Wisconsin State Fair Park, is home to the largest indoor multicultural festival in the United States.

The 10-member group, six from Cat Island and four from Grand Bahama, flew in from The Bahamas on Wednesday and have been tantalizing festival goers with just a taste of what the small island-chain has to offer.
