TV series searches for lost loves to rekindle old flames - Jul 4, 2014 - 8:12:36 AM

A new television series hopes to rekindle old flames around the world, including in The Bahamas.

“The series will follow people as they seek to get back in touch with former flames and crushes to seize a second chance at love,” said Jen Cipperly, who is casting for the project. “We’re looking for guys and gals who still think about a certain someone but have lost touch and would like to track them down and reconnect.”

Bahamas film commissioner Craig Woods said the development company has invited Bahamians who want to re-connect with lost loves to enlist the help of their team.“If there is someone in the United States that Bahamians wish to be reunited with, the show presents that opportunity,” Mr. Woods said.

The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export)officially announces the publication of the Special Call for Proposals – Food Safety for CARIFORUM agro- processing firms to receive financial assistance as part of the Regional Private Sector Development Programme (RPSDP) funded by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) on May 28, 2014.

The Special Call for Proposals (due July 9th) – Food Safety is a reimbursable grant funding facility specifically designed to provide financial assistance to legally registered agro processing firms within the CARIFORUM region who are exporting or have the potential to export their products to the European Union. It is a facility for firms looking for funding to support their capacity building to meet the food production standards of the European Union (EU) market.

To mark and celebrate Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014, the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir has launched the Commonwealth Music Competition.

The initiative is run with the support of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Commonwealth Youth Council, Commonwealth Students Association, Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace, Commonwealth Broadcasting Association and Commonwealth Secretariat.

Nationals of any of the 53 countries in the Commonwealth, who are aged between 15-30, are invited to enter the competition.

Nassau, Bahamas - The launch of the Bahamas Carnival Song Competition is a “watershed moment” for the music industry, said music industry expert Freddie Munnings Jr. The Bahamas National Festival Commission (BNFC) launched the Song Competition on April 28, giving musicians just over 60 days to produce new music and vie for $50,000 in prize money.

Minister of Youth Sports and Culture Daniel Johnson congratulated the Commission for the introduction of the song competition as a critical component of the Bahamas Carnival. He said the government is putting its energy and might behind investing in culture, and the Bahamas Carnival cultural stimulus package will be the driving force to put culture front and center.

The International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Section of the U.S. Embassy in The Bahamas is pleased to announce a request for grant proposals for drug demand reduction projects that include the implementation of an anti-drug media campaign targeting at-risk youth in The Bahamas.

Applicants should design proposals to demonstrate concrete deliverables within a 12-month performance period that are within the scope of the proposed budget, which should be between $5,000 and $25,000.

The Bahamas Marine EcoCentre, in collaboration with the Bimini Biological Field Station (BBFS) is once again offering scholarships for two students to intern at the prestigious Bimini Shark Lab. This is the third year that the Alf Thompson Memorial Scholarship has been offered to Bahamian students and interested scientists and environmentalists.

For eight weeks this summer, two qualifying Bahamians will work and live at the BBFS, more commonly known as the Shark Lab on South Bimini with noted shark and marine biology research scientists, graduate students and other interns from around the world learning about marine and shark biology, field research techniques and conservation of our treasured Bahamas marine ecosystems...
