IDB Changes Location of Annual Meeting - Mar 25, 2019 - 7:50:21 PM

Bank, (IDB) resolved that the Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors
will not be held in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, from March 28

The eight persons apprehended by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF)
after they were found fishing in a Marine Reserve in the northern
Bahamas are expected to be charged before the courts on Monday.
The
men, 5 Bahamian nationals, 2 Haitian nationals and 1 Cuban were
apprehended in the area of Whale Cay in the Berry Islands on Friday
past. They were found with a large quantity of conchs and fishery

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is saddened by the loss of Senior Commander Amos Rolle, who passed away on February 25, 2019.
Senior
Commander Rolle was the former commanding officer of the ill-fated HMBS
Flamingo during the Cuban incident on May 10th, 1980. Approximately 40
days prior to the incident, he became one of the pioneers of a
fledgling Defence Force when he along with 27 individuals were
officially transferred from the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marine

that a video circulating on social media with an RBDF patrol craft
stopping a Haitian sloop is not a current video. That particular video
showing numerous Haitian nationals being transferred to the RBDF patrol
craft P-129 occurred a few years ago.
There have also been
reports of 3 Haitian sloops sighted off Great Inagua during the past few
days. These vessels were in fact registered Haitian cargo vessels with
appropriate documentation to engage in trade between Haiti and Inagua...

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force apprehended a Haitian smuggling vessel
west of Compass Cay in the central Exuma chain around 12:45 today. The
apprehension was the culmination of an interdiction effort coordinated

First Female Warrant Officer Retires - Feb 10, 2019 - 6:02:42 PM
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force said farewell to Force Chief Petty
Officer (FCPO) Idamae Ferguson after 33 years of committed service. FCPO
Ferguson was the first female in the Defence Force to attain the rate
of Warrant Officer after being promoted in 2017; a Warrant Officer is
the highest rate within the enlisted corps.
FCPO Ferguson gave
her final farewell on Parade immediately following Morning Colours (a
military flag raising ceremony held every morning at Coral Harbour
Base). She left Parade attendees with wise words of encouragement to
carry on throughout their careers...
