The southern borders of The Bahamas continue to be an area of concern for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force as it has stepped up its enforcement initiatives in that area. As a result of this, and shared intelligence, a total of 185 Haitian migrants were apprehended very late Friday evening during a joint operation by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Operations Bahamas Turks and Caicos (OPBAT - a tripartite agreement between the US, Turks & Caicos and Bahamas) and Turks and Caicos authorities...

A total of 9 individuals were arrested in West End, Grand Bahama on Wednesday 11th December during an ongoing joint operation by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Police Force, Immigration and Customs departments.

These individuals were taken in on charges ranging from dangerous drugs to immigration violations.

A joint maritime operation between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Police Force, Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos Islands (OPBAT), and the United States Coast Guard on Saturday past resulted in the apprehension of 39 Haitian nationals in the southern Bahamas.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to ensuring its servicemen and women undergo job specific training. As such, a total of 40 Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marines stationed at the Harbour Patrol Unit (HPU) received certificates on November 29th 2019 after successfully completing the Basic Small Boat Handling and the Small Boat Coxswain Training courses.

Marine Seaman Ashton Williams and Marine Seaman Johnny Rolle of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) were recognized for their outstanding performances and were thus chosen as Marines of the Quarter for the Abaco Deployment Team.

Both men, who are exceptional Marines, are members of the latest squad, New Entry 56 and Woman Entry 25. They were recognized for the period October - December 2019. In the midst of devastation, hardship and an ever uncertain environment, they have worked and exceeded expectations in the Galley section of the Supply Department.
