Bahamas Fully Represented at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Show - Jul 26, 2019 - 10:30:01 AM

The aviation team of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation (MOTA) is out in full force at the 2019 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh Show, taking place July 21-28, 2019 in Wisconsin. The team led by Captain Greg Rolle, Senior Director, Sports and Vertical Markets, MOTA and Frederick Donathan, Aviation Consultant, MOTA is comprised of representatives from MOTA, Royal Bahamas Police Force (aviation arm) and Bahamas Customs Department.

Now in its 50th year, the EAA AirVenture Show is the largest aviation show in the world, and each year attracts in excess of 500,000 pilots...

Bahamas Goombay Summer In Freeport a hit with Florida & Georgia Travel Agents - Jul 24, 2019 - 3:20:26 PM

Authentic Bahamian cultural activities, including the Goombay Summer Festival, were a big hit for a recent group of Florida and Georgia travel agents who visited Freeport, Grand Bahama for a familiarization trip.

The group included about 40 travel agents from the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Atlanta areas, all of whom had been exposed to The Bahamas product through seminars or presentations during the year...

The Bahamas and Canada inked an historic bilateral Air Transport agreement recently to encourage more Canadian aviation companies to flock to the destination.

According to Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar, the agreement also allows Bahamian aviation companies to take advantage of economic opportunities in Canada.

The Ministry of Tourism, on behalf of the Government and the people of The Bahamas expresses its condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim of Wednesday’s shark attack off Rose Island, near New Providence.

Details are still being gathered and confirmed, but preliminary reports indicate that the female visitor was snorkeling near Rose Island around 2:00 p.m. ET when the incident occurred...
