Nassau, Bahamas – As part of its overall sponsorship of the 2011 Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF), RBC Royal Bank is providing individual sponsorships to 20 students from The College of The Bahamas to attend Master Classes in Acting and Directing to be held during the film festival. The classes are scheduled for December 3 and 4, respectively, from 1:30 – 4:30 pm at the Bahamas International Film Festival Press Office, Aries Conference Room at the Atlantis Resort and Casino.

Nassau, Bahamas  – The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) announced today that actress/singer Zoe Isabella Kravitz (“X-Men: First Class,” “No Reservations,” “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” “Yelling to the Sky”), daughter of legendary American/Bahamian musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, will be honored with BIFF’s signature Rising Star Tribute. The announcement was made by BIFF Founder & Executive Director Leslie Vanderpool. .

The Festival’s prestigious Rising Star Award is given to an actor or actress whose noteworthy performances have put them on the path for elite and lasting stardom in the industry. Raised in New York City, Jordan is the co-principal of the Production Company CinEssence of which he is President and has been the Director-Screenwriter-Producer, and for several Internet and Broadway ventures. When the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) begins its 8th annual film festival December 1 - 4, it will be doing so with the assistance of RBC Royal Bank. RBC and BIFF came together this year to promote a new programme called ‘FIRST LOOK’ specifically for Bahamian emerging filmmakers.

BIFF and RBC officially launched ‘First Look’ with Bahamas Video Cooperative members to assist first time filmmakers in creating original films, which will be considered for the 2011 BIFF. Both short and feature film entries will be eligible to win a US$5,000.00 cash prize award.

"Black & White Masquerade Gala" was held at Jacaranda House on October 1st and was a great success.

Masks were obligatory, and many wore masks created for the event by local artists, Sue Katz, K. Smith, Vincent McWeeney, and TIFF Creations.
