Bahamas International Film Festival got underway last evening, December
2nd with the hilarious British comedy, Tamara Drewe directed by Stephen
Frears and written by Moira Buffini. American television and film
critic, Jeffrey Lyons.

Academy Award ® Winner Alan Arkin to Receive Bahamas International Film Festival Career Achievement Award - Dec 2, 2010 - 10:44:51 PM

– The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF)
announced today that Academy Award® winner Alan Arkin (
Little Miss Sunshine,
) will be honored with the prestigious Career
Achievement Award at this year’s Film Festival, taking place December 1-5 in
Nassau. Arkin will be on hand for the tribute, with the special award
presentation coming from actress Abigail Breslin, who received an Oscar®
nomination for Best Supporting Actress starring alongside Arkin in
Little
Miss Sunshine.
The Career Achievement Tribute ceremony featuring
Arkin and Breslin will take place at the Atlantis Theater on the evening of
Saturday, December 4th at 8:00pm...

7th annual Bahamas International Film Festival is underway in Nassau
and Paradise Island. Filmmakers from around the globe are now on island
and were welcomed at a special meet and greet hosted by BIFF and their

International Film Festival (BIFF), announced today that Sony Pictures
Classics’ acclaimed comedy “Tamara Drewe” will be the opening
film at this year’s festival, which takes place December 1-5 in Nassau.
The special event screening will take place on
Thursday, December 2nd at
the Atlantis Theatre on Paradise Island. The announcement was made by BIFF

BIFF Attracts High Profile Industry Players For Jury and Panels - Nov 14, 2010 - 11:42:02 PM

Festival (BIFF) announced today the members of the jury that will
preside over the 7th edition of the Festival, which takes place December
1-5, 2010. The jury was revealed today by BIFF Founder and Executive
Director Leslie Vanderpool.
This
year, the Festival will showcase 56 films from 17 different countries,
including 27 features of which several are world or international
premieres and all Bahamian premieres. The four competition categories at
BIFF are Spirit of Freedom; Narrative; Spirit of Freedom; Documentary;

efforts to educate and inspire a new generation of filmmakers. The Festival
announced today that it will be expanding its popular
Youth Film Workshop
during the seventh annual BIFF by partnering with schools throughout Nassau and
integrating the workshops directly into classrooms. The announcement was made

December 1st to 5th.
Over the years you have heard, seen, experienced and been transformed by the magic of cinema, you have had the opportunity to network and meet numerous actors, filmmakers and celebrities.
BIFF was created to enhance the international film industry culture, especially with our young people in mind. It was created to support the country’s filmmakers and to present to the Bahamas films that offer views of the world, and to introduce our country to filmmakers from around the world, with the aim of having them come back and shoot their films right here.
