SAVE THE DATE Decoding Salvation: New Works by Jace McKinney Opening Thursday, September 12, 2013 6pm to 9pm The Central Bank Art Gallery, Market Street

The Central Bank of The Bahamas Art Gallery is pleased to host ‘Decoding Salvation’ featuring new works by Jace Mckinney, the 2012 winner of Central Bank’s Annual Art Competition.

As a fine artist and storyteller, Jace is known for his surreal illustrations and sculptures that are inspired by the visual elements of ‘Junkanoo’, and the unique religious and folklore traditions of Bahamian culture. His work often merges the ordinary and mundane with the fantastical, dreamlike spiritual journey of the human soul.

'Decoding Salvation' is a body of work that highlights themes in the age-old story of redemption. This work was birthed out of Jace’s reflections on modern heroes and the lack thereof in today’s society. As an answer to these views that pervade society, his body of work focuses on salvific themes in relation to struggle, triumph, revivals, and ‘birthday parties’.
