BIFF 2016 to open in Nassau Dec 5-8; and Eleuthera Dec 8-11

The 13th edition of the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is just around the corner and takes place December 5–8 in Harbour Island, Eleuthera and December 8–11 in Nassau.

Michael Mailer of “Blind” starring Alec Baldwin, Demi Moore and Dylan McDermott will open the festival with a red carpet screening at Rawson Square, Downtown Nassau on Thursday, December 8th followed by the documentary “Before the Trees was Strange” directed by Derek Burrows. The Closing film “Bazodee” starring Machel Montano will close the festival with an evening screening on Sunday, December 11th at Fort Stanley, Fort Charlotte.

This year, the Festival will showcase 95 films from 26 different countries, including 31 features of which several are international premieres and all are Bahamian premieres.

What is especially exciting this year are the nine films being presented that were either made by Bahamian filmmakers, feature Bahamians in major roles or filmed on location here in The Bahamas. They are as follows:

Before-the-trees-was-strange
1. “Before It’s Too Late” by Bahamian Christopher C Reid
2. “Before the Trees was Strange” by Bahamian Derek Burrows
3. “Carl’s Present” by Bahamian Kevin Taylor
4. “Live Cargo” by Logan Sandler (filmed in The Bahamas)
5. “Salt & Light: The Story of Monsignor Preston Moss” by Bahamians Joan Albury and Kristina McNeil
6. “The Black Line” by Stan Jakubowicz (starring Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace)
7. “When The Lionfish Came” by Bahamian Tamika Galanis
8. “Game” by Jeannie Donohoe (starring Rick Fox)
9. “From Where the Opera Sings” by Corey Harrell (filmed in The Bahamas).
