Nassau, Bahamas - The Bahamas International Film Festival showcased two of their films in an out of the ordinary way on December 12th. Both Morenita (Mexico) and A Zona (Portugal) were screened on a large lawn area out at La Hipica next to Good Fellows Farms.
After the screening Sammy T from the UK took to the stage and put on a lively and interesting performance with a mix of sounds ranging from punk rock to similarities of the Rolling Stones. Sammy writes all his own songs and said his influence is pop culture.
Attendees danced on the lawn for hours and the band played well past their appointed time, aiming to please the audience and enjoy their guest gig in The Bahamas. Band members came in from various European countries to join Sammy T.
Founder and Executive Director of BIFF, Leslie Vanderpool said, "We are so excited to have Sammy T perform at the Bahamas International Film Festival, his music is infectious!"
Sammy T has cut his teeth singing in rock n roll bands in Australia, the UK and Spain, and now calls the Bahamas his home.
Inspired
by the cruisey laid-back feel of the islands he has written a new
album’s worth of material which he and his band debuted.
Filled with
quirky, hook-ridden, danceable pop tunes this is music that is
instantly likable with broad appeal, and accessible to all ages. Think
the Monkees, Fatboy Slim and Eddie Grant blended together with a splash
of Bahama Mama fruit punch.
Sammy is known internationally for his energetic and highly entertaining stage show. Its Mick Jagger meets Monty Python. Mixing
classic skinny-britboy frontman antics, with dry self-depreciating
humour.
